Spencer Is Hurt Again

So Spencer was playing hockey last night and he broke his ankle. I wasn't there, I was at my house getting ready to go to Mardi Gras at USU. We were going to go at about 11 pm and so I was at my house painting my nails and getting ready. I get a call at 10:20 pm from Spencer and he tells me that he thinks he might have broken his ankle.

Apparently he had the puck and was going to go around the goal post. His skates slipped out from under him and he slammed feet first into the boards. He looked down and saw his foot and skate turned to the side, not facing forward like it is supposed to be. He had a split second thought wondering why his foot and skate were sideways when the skate is supposed to keep the ankle and foot going straight ahead. He then freaked out and slammed his foot on the ice to straighten his foot back out. Fellow hockey players, Tomi and Tanner, saw Spencer's foot and said they almost threw up loking at Spencer's foot.

His foot was pretty nasty looking, I thought it is absolutely disgusting looking. Here are the pictures.
Gross!
Nasty!

Valentine's Day

Three hearts
I Love You
You're The Greatest
Three Hearts
I Love You

This Valentine's Day, Spencer got me a bear that sings "Hey There Delilah" by: Plain White T's and the bear has a rose that twirls around and says "I love you", has three hearts that show up, and says "You're the Greatest". He also got me two dozen roses, a box of chocolates, and a big stuffed dog. The roses are absolutely beautiful and I loved them.

Fun with Movies

So, here's what you do. Pick some of your favorite movies. Then go to IMDB and pick out lines from that movie, and post on your blog.

I've chosen 10 movies. You guess from what movie the lines comes from in the comment section. Also, put in the comments if you're playing along on your own blog - I want to visit.

Here we go:

1. Did any of them manage to miss you?

2. Have you ever heard of Evel Knievel?
No, I never saw Star Wars.

3. The lies I've told! The lives I've ruined! Wait...this isn't helping me!

4. Well, boys, our monochromatic friend's in danger. Looks like we have a job to do.

5. Why so serious?

6. Cody's around here somewhere, I can feel it in my nuggets!

7. Voice confirmation required.
Uhhh...
Accepted.

8. Saw the whole thing, dude. First, you were all like "Whoa", and we were like "Whoa", and you were like "Whoa..."

9. A real magician tries to invent something new, that other magicians are gonna scratch their heads over.

10. By putting this on, you have started a chain reaction that could bring about the next apocalypse.
You, lighten up.
You, big trouble.
You, get in the car.

I will put up the answers next week so you have time to look at this and figure it out. :)

Interesting Fact

So last night I had to go to a play for my Arts Symposium class. The play was called "Assassins" and it was all about the assassinations and attempted assassinations on the presidents of the United States.

I found out that there were 9 assassinations and attempts in our history. The first is John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Abraham Lincoln. The next person was Charles Guiteau. He shot President Garfield twice in the back. Then there is Leon Czolgosz. He shot President McKinley point-blank. Guiseppe Zangara tried to kill President Franklin Delano Roosevelt but missed because he was so short and accidentally killed Mayor Anton Cermak. Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

Samuel Byck tried to kill President Nixon. He was going to hijack a 747 and crash it into the White House, he successfully killed the co-pilot, wound the pilot, and get himself killed. Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was Charles Manson's lover and tried to kill President Gerald Ford as a way to get Charles Manson back in the news. She was crazy enough to think that Manson was the Messiah. Sara Jane Moore also tried to assassinate President Ford. She tried unsuccessfully 17 days after Lynette. The last assassination attempt was John W. Hinckley, Jr. He tried to kill President Reagan to prove his love to Jodie Foster.

Now all of these assassination attempts are before any of the attempts that have been made on President Obama. There have already been 2-3 attempts on Obama's life I think. Definitely gives you something to think about doesn't it.

I HATE YOU, CAR!!!

Ok, so I officially HATE my car. I took my car in yesterday to see what the problem was with it. It has been having a lot of white smoke coming from the tail pipe and having problems running. When the guy called back to give me the diagnosis, I just thought, "Crap!". There are four cylinders in my car and one of the cylinders, or the piston in the cylinder, was either cracked or it was missing the rings at the top of the cylinder. So he said I would have until this summer to get a new car before my car died on me.

Well he was wrong.

My car died today, it committed suicide in my opinion. I am trying to leave Spencer's apartment complex and I get to the entryway/driveway to the parking lot and it dies. I'm sitting there trying to get it started again and it just won't start for me. I call Spencer, who was about to take a nap, and tell him, so he walks over. While I am waiting for him, I still try to get my car started, not happening. He gets over, tries to start and the battery has died on me. So he went to get his Jeep so he could jump me. While I am waiting for him, I pop my hood and get my jumper cables. The garbage man for Spencer's complex comes over and asks if I need help.

The funny part about this is that when my car first died, the garbage man had gone into the copmlex to get the garbage. When it came time to try and jump my car, he was getting ready to leave. He looks under my hood and tries to see if he could help, although he couldn't do anything because my car was beyond normal repair. Spencer comes over, hooks up to my car, and tries to get it to start and my car refuses to cooperate, even with the Jeep giving it juice. So Spencer and the garbage man pushes my car back over to the front of Spencer's building.

So I am without a car until I can get a new one. I'll keep you updated.

Prophecy by: Elizabeth Haydon (2nd in series)

Another awesome book! I definitely recommend this series to everyone. Elizabeth Haydon rivals Terry Goodkind in her storytelling.

In Rhapsody, a fellowship was forged--three companions who, through great adversity, became a force to be reckoned with: Rhapsody the Singer; Achmed the assassin-king; and Grunthor, the giant Sergeant-Major. Prophecy continues their powerful epic. Driven by a prophetic vision, Rhapsody races to rescue a religious leader while Achmed and Grunthor seek the F'dor--an ancient and pwoerful demon. These companions may be destined to fulfill The Prophecy of the Three, but their time is running short. They must find their elusive enemy before his darkness consumes them all.

Went Home For Christmas

So I know that this is kinda late, but I needed to blog this. This is from 12/18/08-1/2/09, that was when I was in Texas.

So I went home for Christmas, and home for me is now in Texas. It is weird thinking of that as home since I never lived there, but that is where my family is and family is what makes a house, or place, home. I was so excited to go home too. In the weeks leading up to it, I just got so excited. I mean, I hadn't seen my family since July so I had good reason to be excited. When I got to Texas, my mom picked me up from the airport. It was so great seeing her! I absolutely love my mom, she is my best friend!!! By the time I got to the house, none of the kids were home yet from school, but my dad was there and so I got to talk with him before the chaos of the kids flying at me.

As soon as Karissa saw me, she ran and almost tackled me into the couch. Connor was a little more subdued and just gave me a big hug. Karissa made me a little booklet that was absolutely adoreable. I'll have to put up a couple of the pictures on here, just to show how cute they were.

So as soon as I got home and put my stuff in Karissa's room, we went out and took family pictures for the Christmas newsletter. I thought that they were cute pictures. You can look at my mom's blog for pictures of those. It was a little chilly, but not as cold as it was here in Logan before I left. The very first picture we took involved us kids climbing a tree. I am not exactly scared of heights, I'm just leery of them. Especially climbing up and down a narrow branch. Plus I was in jogging pants and I didn't want those ruined. My parents should have told me what we were doing so I could change into jeans.

I think one of the first things I did when I got home was play Guitar Hero with Brittney. She wanted to battle me and when we battle, I'm playing medium and she is playing hard. This is the only way that we are actually competition for each other. The funny part is that everytime it gets to sudden death, I always win. I don't know how I do it, but I always do.

So on Christmas Eve, we went to the Gaylord Texas Ice Show. We got to see a bunch of ice sculptors. They were really cool. I was wearing two pairs of pants, a long sleeve shirt, my nice jacket, and the parka that they gave us. I was also wearing a pair of gloves. I was still a little bit cold. They have to keep the rooms like 9 degrees so the sculptors don't melt. You can see more pictures here on my mom's blog.

For Christmas, I got quite a bit of stuff. I got money to get 2 pair of pants and 2 shirts. I got The Summoning by: Kelley Armstrong, cute dishes, silverware, airbake cookie sheet, cookie rack, and an eagle calendar from Mom and Dad. From Brittney, I got a really cute necklace that had three hearts on it. From Grandma Schmelter, I got a pair of fuzzy socks and a $15 iTunes gift card. From Mother Liz, I got a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card. And then, of course, I got myself a bunch of books for Christmas. Mom took me to a bargain bookstore and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. I was almost lost as I tried to find out which books to get and to not spend too much money.

On my flight back to Utah, everyone except Brittney went to the airport with me. Brittney had to work. Mom and Karissa went into the airport with me. Karissa did not want to let me go when it came time for me to go through security. It was so cute and so sad. I definitely miss them a whole bunch! I can't wait to see them again!

Rhapsody: Child of Blood by: Elizabeth Haydon (1st in series)

OMG this is a good book!!! It just grabs you from the beginning and won't let go even at the very end. You think the book will end all nice and be good but no! It brings a huge shock all the way from the beginning of the book that you don't think anything about and just shocks the heck out of you. I definitely recommend this to everybody!

The Brilliant New Saga Is Born...

Rhapsody is a woman, a Singer of some talent, who is swept up into events of world-shattering import. On the run from an old romantic interest who won't take no for an answer, Rhapsody literally bumps into a couple of shady characters: half-breeds who come to her rescue in the nick of time. Only the rescue turns into an abduction, and Rhapsody soon finds herself dragged along on an epic voyage, one that spans centuries and ranges across a wonder-filled fantasy world--a world so real you can hear the sweet music of Rhapsody's aubade and smell the smoldering forges deep with the Cauldron.

Knife of Dreams by: Robert Jordan (11th in series)

This was definitely a good book! I cannot wait for the next book to come out. That is this fall, if I remember correctly.

This volume of The Wheel of Time ties up a number of loose ends exposed during the course of the series. Elayne gains the throne of Andor and also manages to root out the Black Ajah sisters in Caemlyn. Egwene, captured by the Tower Aes Sedai and reduced to novice white, begins undermining Elaida's control of the White Tower from within. Rand escapes a trap by the Forsaken Semirhage while at the same time capturing her and losing his left hand. Mat and Tuon get married after their party reaches the edge of Seanchan controlled territory. Tuon then returns to Ebou Dar where she learns about a civil war in the Seanchan empire and the deaths of all of the Imperial family except her, which will make her the new Empress of Seanchan. Perrin defeats the Shaido in Malden with the help of the Seanchan and rescues his wife Faile. Unusual Trolloc attacks, the dead walking, ripples in the fabric of the world and other events seem to indicate that the last battle is drawing near; several characters using different "evidence" confidently state that Tarmon Gai'don is close at hand.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!

I love my mom so much! I am so grateful to have her as my mother and not some other woman. I don't think I would be the woman that I am today if it wasn't for her. Mom, you are my absolute best friend in the whole world and I don't know what I'm going to do without you once you are gone. Who am I going to talk books and tv with? Not Spencer, he doesn't see eye-to-eye with me on books or tv shows. I miss just being able to talk to you about anything and everything. It was so great being home with you and being able to do that. I definitely wish we lived closer so I could come over and just hang out with you. I Love You Mom!!!

First Snow

So we had our first snow storm today. It kinda sucked but now the waiting game is over. It snowed a good 4 inches in the space of about 6 hours, from the time I went to sleep, at 6 am this morning to when I woke up at 12 pm it had the 4 inches. Then at around 3 or 4, I think, it started snowing again. It was not fun driving to work in that.

Winter's Heart by: Robert Jordan (9th in series)

I really liked this book. They all keep getting better and better. I can't wait to see where the next book takes me.

Perrin Aybara and his followers pursue the Shaido Aiel who kidnapped his wife, Faile Bashere.
Elayne Trakand attempts to solidify her grip on the Lion Throne and put down rebellious nobles.
Mat Cauthon, making his return to the series after his absence in the previous book, is trapped in the city of Ebou Dar in Altara, which is under Seanchan occupation. He plans his escape, but in the end, his plans are disrupted by the interference of a Seanchan noblewoman named Tuon, who is revealed as the Daughter of the Nine Moons, heir to the Seanchan Crystal Throne. Mat, having heard a prophecy about him marrying the Daughter of the Nine Moons, kidnaps Tuon instead of tying her up and leaving her behind.

Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, is bonded as a Warder by Elayne Trakand, Aviendha, and Min Farshaw. He hunts down Asha'man traitors in Far Madding and kills most of them. Lan also kills Toram Riatin in a duel. Caught by guards, he is imprisoned for a short time but is set free by Cadsuane and the other Aes Sedai who followed him. Rand and Nynaeve al'Meara Travel to Shadar Logoth. There, defended by Cadsuane Melaidhrin's Aes Sedai and loyal Asha'man against the Forsaken, Rand and Nynaeve link and use the Choedan Kal to cleanse saidin of the Dark One's taint so that men who channel will no longer go mad. Whilst using so much of the one power, the access key (or female Choedan Kal) is destroyed.

Movie: Twilight

OMG!!! I so loved this movie! I had low expectations of the movie and so because of that, it turned out way better than I thought it would. I was so excited the whole time. You can ask Spencer, he's the one that took me. I would get really excited because I knew what would happen next, and I would just tense up and almost stop breathing from the excitement. Spencer even thought it was a good movie. I now have to read the books over again. Although that will have to wait until I finish the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, but as soon as I'm done withthat, I'm reading the Twilight series again. I give this 5 stars.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

Well Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I spent my Thanksgiving at the Barlow house. It was all chaotic and fun. I had to work the night before Thanksgiving and so couldn't go early to the Barlow house. Myself and my friend Stevie went up to Herriman. We drove her car, which was a lot smarter than taking my car because my car is a piece of junk that would have had a hard time getting down there. When we got to the Herriman house, it was crazy and loud and chaotic. Now Stevie comes from Chicago, IL and has never been around a lot of people in one house. So she was a little overwhelmed. There was so much going that even I get a little overwhelmed at times, and I experience the craziness once a year, at least.

I think the headcount for Thanksgving dinner was about 52 people there, give or take a person or two. We actually got to eat in the house this year. In the Riverton house, they always had to eat in the garage. So after eating dinner, we played games. Stevie ended up needing to come back up to Logan to work at 6 am the day after Thanksgiving. So Grandpa Barlow convinced me to stay the night. I stayed the night and had fun talking with my Grandpa and with Mother Ann. The next day, I talked with Mother Ann and Dezirae and Lydia. While we are talking, Grandpa Barlow, Carl (Heather's husband), Ryan (Carl's brother), and a couple of the other uncles are all down in the basement. They were down there because Grandpa needed to take out a wall down there and so they needed to replace one of the wooden support beams holding up the main floor with a steel support beam. So Ann, Dezirae, Lydia and I are all talking when Ryan and Heather come running up the stairs telling us to get off the kitchen floor, so we rush into the sitting room.

Now the whole time we were talking we could feel the floor bouncing up and down with the hits the guys downstairs were making. It was kinda scary. So we get over into the sitting room and finished talking. Ryan and Heather finally come back up and tell us everything was alright. I finally called Stevie to see when she was going to pick me up and she could only meet me halfway. So had James give me a ride down to Ogden and Stevie picked me up and that was my Thanksgiving day.

I will get pictures up as soon as I get them off of Stevie's camera.

Movie: Madagascar 2

Spencer and I went and saw Madagascar 2. It was a really cute movie and it was funny, but I like the story line of the first one. I didn't really like how Gloria and Melman hooked up, it was dumb and almost ruined the movie for me. But it was still a good movie. I give it 4 stars.

Movie: Quantum of Solace

Spencer and I went and saw Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond movie. I thought it was a really good movie, but I think I liked the first one better. It was still good though. I'll give it 4 stars.
