I colored my hair last Thursday. I am now an almost-blonde. My hair is definitely lighter than before, but it is not truly blonde. It is an interesting color. I don't know if you can tell in these pics. The first pic is a pic from Christmas, you can see that the color there is definitely darker than the second pics.

You can tell its lighter, but not by much. You should just try to get back to your natural color.
