Visiting Teaching

Today I went visiting teaching for the first time with Kendal, she is my teaching companion. We were only able to visit one of our girls, her name is Tiffani and she has bi-polar, and she likes to tell everybody that she has bi-polar. I guess she is really artistic and creative, she writes books and music, she sings, and I think she draws as well. She was a really nice girl. Our lesson was on having one heart and one mind, Kendal gave the lesson since I've never done this before, and she was all missionary mode when we got there, it was pretty funny. We are still trying to get a hold of our other girl so we can be good and satisfied with our visiting teaching this month.

Ice Skating & Harry Potter

Yesterday, Spencer took me on a real date. We went ice skating and he took me to see the new Harry Potter movie. I had a blast!! I didn't fall when we went ice skating, which is a great feat for me, it also helped that every time I was about to fall, Spencer caught me and I didn't fall. He's a really good ice skater. We then went to see Harry Potter and the theater we were in was crap, but oh well, the movie was good, I liked it! I'll get a pic of us up here sooner or later, whenever I get around to it, sorry I haven't done it sooner.

Druid's Sword by: Sara Douglass (4th in series)

London, 1940. Londoners struggle to survive amidst the terror of the blitz's constant bombardment. But is it only Hitler's forces that are responsible for the overwhelming death and destruction?

Millennia ago, Brutus, Greek Kingman and creator of the Troy Game, brought the bands of power to the isle of Alba. Once again he arrives in London, this time as the handsome American major Jack Skelton. His eternal companions (and sometime lovers and enemies) have all been reborn in this pivotal time and place, for one last battle with the magical Labyrinth buried at the heart of the city.

The Labyrinth calls to them to finally complete the Game and set its entangled players free. As Jack works to achieve their fondest wish, he begins to sense a new, unexpected power shadowing the land. The shadow may be connected to the Game but--has its own secret agenda.

And it is hungry.

Ewan's Birthday

And here is Grandpa with Baby Silvie!

Well, today is Ewan's birthday, he just turned the big 4. He was very excited all day today, as you can imagine. Let's see, he got a flashlight, a new Backyardigan's movie, a computer (one that's for toddlers), cowboy dress-up clothes, farmer dress-up clothes (which look more like almost carpenter clothes than anything else), and he got astronaut clothes, which is what he's been wanting for months. Very cute!

This is Jude with Ewan's cowboy clothes on.

I got's a boyfriend now!

Just to let everyone know, Spencer asked me out on Wednesday, this blog is a little late, but I've been kind of busy. He took me out driving after Math class, so it was like 9 pm. We're driving out to the middle of nowhere and I kept asking him where we were going and he was just like, "I don't know, I'm just driving", even though he was taking specific turns and everything. So he turns off onto this dirt road and we drive for about another 5 minutes on this road. Then he turns his car around and I look and I see the whole city of Logan spread out before me. It was sooo beautiful! He puts a towel up on the roof of his car and we sit there for quite some time before he asks me to go out with him officially. It was really quite romantic...so just so everybody knows the updated status of my life!

Lydia's Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Manti Barlow.
Lydia's Aunt Sherri did my hair and makeup for $25.
I went to my Aunt Lydia's wedding this weekend, she is 17 and her husband, Manti is a month older than me. I was one of her bridesmaids. The wedding ceremony did not go to plan at all the way Lydia planned. First of all, the zipper on her slip broke, and she wouldn't let us safety pin it, we had to be out there in like 15 min cause the minister had to leave for another wedding and she wasn't even dressed, then there was no music, because the people in charge couldn't figure out how to make it work, we were missing 2 groomsmen from the line for the ceremony, so 2 girls had to walk by themselves. The reception was a lot of fun...I loved dancing with all the family, although I only slow danced with Caleb, I think he's my 2nd cousin, but I don't know, he's the one that gave me a ride on his bullet bike, Dad, just so you know who he is. I didn't actually get back to Lydia's house until like 4-4:30 am. We went driving around and visited some of the wedding guests, but I had fun!!!
The garter toss, I didn't get a pic of the bouquet toss cause I was in it.

Darkwitch Rising by: Sara Douglass (3rd in series)

From the mists of time came Brutus, last of the Trojan kings, armed with hidden knowledge. He was captivated by the alluring sorceress Genvissa and together they almost succeeded in creating a magical Labyrinth that could rival the might of the gods. But the Labyrinth was struck down by Brutus' wife Cornelia, who believed that to challenge the power of the gods was to destroy the world.

Her actions trapped them in an endless cycle of death and rebirth. Ages passed, and time and again the players came close to victory, only to be thwarted each time.

But these soul travelers have arrived in a most unique Now: the English are at war, a mighty Civil War that threatens to destroy a nation. A great pestilence is upon the land, and the newly restored Charles II is trying to hold chaos at bay. He is another player in the game, reborn yet again...

And he is not alone.

NVO Club

Last night, Spencer picked me up at around 10:15 pm so we could go and check out the local club in town. Neither of us had ever been there and we heard that Thursday night was the best night to go...I have to absolutely agree!!! We had a freaking blast!! All the dj's would play was hip-hop, which was fantastic, and Spencer and I really had a lot of fun dancing...He didn't drop me off at Chippy's house until like 1:40 am, the time just flew right by...He was thinking of taking me swimming at a pool near his apartment, but I didn't have a suit, and it was late and I needed to get up early today for school. We had met up with some kids in some of our classes and from around his apartment complex...But we had an absolute blast!!

The Five Factor Personality Test

Extroversion:

You have low extroversion.
You are quiet and reserved in most social situations.
A low key, laid back lifestyle is important to you.
You tend to bond slowly, over time, with one or two people.

Conscientiousness:

You have medium conscientiousness.
You're generally good at balancing work and play.
When you need to buckle down, you can usually get tasks done.
But you've been known to goof off when you know you can get away with it.

Agreeableness:

You have high agreeableness.
You are easy to get along with, and you value harmony highly.
Helpful and generous, you are willing to compromise with almost anyone.
You give people the benefit of the doubt and don't mind giving someone a second chance.

Neuroticism:

You have low neuroticism.
You are very emotionally stable and mentally together.
Only the greatest setbacks upset you, and you bounce back quickly.
Overall, you are typically calm and relaxed - making others feel secure.

Openness to experience:

Your openness to new experiences is medium.
You are generally broad minded when it come to new things.
But if something crosses a moral line, there's no way you'll approve of it.
You are suspicious of anything too wacky, though you do still consider creativity a virtue.

This is actually pretty accurate, I was kinda surprised at that...I got this from Montse's site.

Footprints by:Brittney Schmelter

I found this poem in my binder that I am using for school. Brittney had written this for me one day during church. I like it a lot, so I am going to put this in my blog. This is really cute!!

We walk along hand-in-hand
Leaving footprints in the sand
Watching sunsets near the sea
Always and forever we will be

Leaving footprints in the mud
Honey, baby, you're my stud
Stealing kisses in the rain
No more suffering, no more pain

Leaving footprints through the years
When other footprints disappear
Gazing at the lovely stars
Knowing that this life is ours

Staring at your wrinkled face
We're through this life; we've won the race (I put that in)
Seeing the love inside your eyes
We leave with footprints in the skies

Gods' Concubine by: Sara Douglass (2nd in series)

From ancient Greece came the remnants of the glorious Trojans. Led by Brutus, Kingman, these have come to Albion to begin anew. A vision of beauty called them to create a new Troy, and when they landed on the shores of the and that became Britain, they found an old magic that was fading. And so they began to construct a new Labyrinth, a place of magic that will bring unimaginable power to those who can control it.

But Cornelia, the young bride of Brutus, dooms the completion of the Labyrinth and sets into motion a hell of death and rebirth, until the Labyrinth is completed and the ancient magic is set free.

A thousand years pass, but the magic from the dawn of time waits, and the players are not yet done with their destinies. They have new faces and new bodies, but old souls--kings and princes, deadly court intrigues, and ancient powers are awakened.

And there is a warrior across the sea, waiting to finish wat was started centuries before.

My first real thunderstorm in Logan

I experienced my first real thunderstorm today...it was freaking awesome!! I tried to get pics of the lightning, but I am not that good of a photographer, I stood out there for like 5 min. trying to get a pic, I always got the pic like a sec after the lightning was gone...Oh well, I just got a pic off the internet that looks like what we saw here. But I did get pics of how hard it was raining and how hard the wind was blowing.

Hades' Daughter by:Sara Douglass (1st in series)

Ancient Greece is a place where mortals are the playthings of the gods--but at the core of each mortal city-state is a Labyrinth, where the mortals can shape the heavens to their own design. When Theseus comes away from the Labyrinth with the prize of freedom and his beloved Ariadne, the Mistress of the Labyrinth, his future seems assured. But she bears him only a daughter--and when he casts him aside for this, the world seems to change. From that day forward, the Labyrinths decay, and power fades from the city-states.

A hundred years pass, Troy falls, the Trojans scatter. Then Brutus, the warrior-king of Troy, receives a vision of distant shores where he can rebuild the ancient kingdom. He will move heaven and earth to reach his destiny. But in the mists is a woman of power, a descendant of Ariadne, who has her own reasons for luring Brutus to this lush land. Her heart is filled with a generations-old hatred, and her vengeance on him will not be thwarted.

If Brutus makes the journey successfully, it will be the next step in the Game of the Labyrinth, and the beginning of a complicated contest of wills that will last for centuries...
