Just because you are raised as a military brat.....yes, another one of Britt's blonde moments.

Just because you are raised as a military brat does not mean you know the most simple basic things. Today walking into the house from church Drew start out...Left, Left, Left, Right, Left. Brittney responds with, "Oh, I get that now! I always wondered how they marched when they said only left."
Doh, she though maybe they took a left step and paused, then somehow they would take another left step. Or maybe they just hopped on their left leg. Oh my gosh, what a blonde.

WarCraft: The Well of Eternity by: Richard A. Knaak (1st in trilogy)

Many months have passed since the cataclysmic Battle of Mount Hyjal, where the demonic Burning Legion was banished from Azeroth forever. But now, a mysterious energy rift within the mountains of Kalimdor propels three former warriors into the distant past--a time long before orcs, humans or even high elves roamed the land. A time when the Dark Titan, Sargeras, and his demon pawns persuaded Queen Azshara and her Highborne to cleanse Azeroth of its lesser races. A time when the Dragon Aspects were at the height of their power--unaware that one of their own would soon usher in an age of darkness that would engulf the world of...WARCRAFT.

In the first chapter of this epic trilogy, the outcome of the historic War of the Ancients is forever altered by the arrival of three time-lost heroes: Krasus, the dragon mage whose great power and memories of the ancient conflict have inexplicably diminished; the human wizard Rhonin, whose thoughts are divided between his family and the seductive source of his now-growing power; and Broxigar, a weathered orc veteran who seeks a glorious death in combat. But unless these unlikely allies can convince the demigod, Cenarius, and the untrusting night elves their queen's treachery, the Burning Legion's gateway into Azeroth will open anew. And this time--the struggles of the past may well spill over into the future...

FINALS ARE DONE!!!

I AM FINALLY DONE WITH FINALS! YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED NOW THAT THEY ARE DONE, OR AT LEAST I WOULD BE IF I WASN'T SO DANG TIRED! FREAK I AM TIRED :(

WarCraft: Day of the Dragon by: Richard A. Knaak

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of man in relative peace and harmony--until the arrival of the demonic army known as Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms--part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of WARCRAFT.

A terrifying upheaval among the highest ranks of the world's Wizards sends the maverick Mage, Rhonin, on a perilous journey into the Orc-controlled lands of Khaz Modan. What Rhonin uncovers is a vast, far-reaching conspiracy, darker than anything he ever imagined--a threat that will force into a dangerous alliance with ancient creatures of air and fire if the world of Azeroth is to see another dawn.

USU vs. UVSC/Choir Concert

USU played UVSC (Utah Valley South College) today in hockey. It was a good game. Spencer and I were an hour late because of my choir concert (will talk more on that in a minute). We beat UVSC 6-2 which was great! I guess UVSC is 2nd in the ranking of college hockey, or so Spencer says and USU is 9th in the ranking, so we played really good today to have been able to beat UVSC. Suds got in a fight and kicked out of the game, he lost the fight in my opinion, and Spencer agrees with me :)

Ok, on to my choir concert, although I guess I should switch these cuz the concert was first, but oh well. The choir concert was really awesome. I had so much fun. The pre-show was hilarious and the actual performance was excellent. We had "The Ghost of Christmas Cache" there tonight reminding a janitor who was trying to clean during our performance the true meaning of Christmas, all part of the show in case anybody was wondering :), and both the janitor and the Ghost did a great job at their parts. I am going to buy our CD that the choirs made last month and just now got published tomorrow night at our next concert. It will be great! I am so excited to get the CD.

USU vs. BYU

USU played BYU in hockey Friday night and lost. But they played them again last night and we beat them 6-2 which was awesome!!

SNOW!!!

It is finally snowing today!!! It took forever to snow, but it is now! This is a pic of the house across the street taken from my room. IT'S SNOWING!!!

Cell by: Stephen King

I would totally be a phone-crazy or phone-person. I never go anywhere without my cell phone, so I would be screwed. This was an excellent book and I could hardly put it down.

Graphic artist Clay Riddell was in the heart of Boston on that brilliant autumn afternoon when hell was unleashed before his eyes. Without warning, carnage and chaos reigned. Ordinary people feel victim to the basest, most animalistic destruction.

And the apocalypse began with the ring of a cell phone...

PAGE EXCERPT:
The guy in th Mister Softee truck bent down and held out a sundae cup. From it rose a white Alp with chocolate and strawberry sauce coursing down its sides. His beard-stubbly face was impassive. It said he'd seen it all before. Clay was sure he had, most of it twice. In the park someone screamed. Clay looked over his shoulder again, telling himself it had to be a scream of joy. At three o'clock in the afternoon, a sunny afternoon on the Boston Common, it pretty much had to be a scream of joy. Right?

The woman said something unintelligible to Maddy and flipped her cell phone closed with a practiced flip of the wrist. She dropped it back into her purse, than just stood there, as if she had forgotten what she was doing or maybe where she was.

"That's four-fifty," said the Mister Softee guy, still patiently holding out the ice cream sundae. Clay had time to think how f***ing expensive everything was in the city. Perhaps the woman in the power suit thought so, too--that, at least, was his first surmise--because for a moment more she still did nothing, merely looked at the cup with its mound of ice cream and sliding sauce as if she had never seen such a thing before.

Then there came another cry from the Common, not a human this time but something between a surprised yelp and a hurt yowl. Clay turned to look and saw the dog that had been trotting with the Frisbee in its mouth. It was a good-sized brown dog, maybe a Labrador, he didn't really know dogs, when he needed to draw one he got a book and copied a picture. A man in a business suit was down on his knees beside this one and had it in a necklock and appeared to be--surely I'm not seeing what I think I'm seeing, Clay thought--chewing on its ear. Then the dog howled again and tried to spurt away. The man in the business suit held it firm, and yes, that was the dog's ear in the man's mouth, and as Clay continued to watch, the man tore it off the side of the dog's head. This time the dog uttered an almost human scream, and a number of ducks which had been floating on a nearby pond took flight, squawking.

"Rast!" someone cried from behind Clay. It sounded like rast. It might have been rat or roast, but later experience made him lean toward rast: not a word at all but merely an inarticulate sound of aggression.

Thanksgiving

I got to go home for Thanksgiving which was totally cool. I left Tuesday, and my planes went from Salt Lake at 6:15 am to Las Vegas at like 6:35 am (NV time). Than it left Vegas at 8:40 am to Reno at 9:55 am. It was a little retarded because the plane had to totally bipass Reno to get to Vegas, but oh well. I had an absolute blast when I went home. On Tuesday, I went to my old high school to see Mrs. Bice and Mrs. Archey. Mrs. Archey was sick adn so I wasn't able to see her, but I got to see Mrs. Bice, which I was totally happy to do. Then on Wednesday, I took Connor and Karissa to the pool so I could see my old coworkers. We had fun doing that. On Thursday, it was Turkey Day. We had Stan over for dinner, since he has no family in Nevada and didn't feel like spending Turkey Day alone. Also, Mom, Britt, and I worked on a 1000-piece puzzle that we finished that night after dinner.

Than on Friday, I got to see Alex and Jen, they actually came over for dinner, which was totally exciting.
Mom had bought another 1000-piece puzzle that we worked on and finished that night. We all had a blast. Saturday, I left to go back to Utah and did the exact same things that I did Tuesday, although it started at 3:55 pm this time.

New Hair Cut

I got a new hair cut on Friday, November 16. I absolutely LOVE it!!! It is nice and short. The lady who cut my hair said she was having an absolute blast doing it, she razored my hair, which was a first to me, what she did was she took a razor blade and just started going to town on the edges. It was different.

Now Elena must find a way to seal the portal before the unwelcome visitors get what they're looking for--which, for some unknown reason, is Elena...

Industrial Magic by: Kelley Armstrong (4th in series)

In the aftermath of her mother's murder, Paige broke with the elite, ultraconservative American Coven of Witches. Now her goal is to start a new Coven for a new generation. But while Paige pitches her vision to uptight thirty-something witches in business suits, a more urgent matter commands her attention.

Someone is murdering the teenage offspring of the underworld's most influential Cabals--a circle of families that makes the mob look like amateurs. And none is more powerful than the Cortez Cabal, a faction Paige is intimately acquainted with. Lucas Cortez, the rebel son and unwilling heir, is none other than her boyfriend. But love isn't blind, and Paige has her eyes wide open as she is drawn into a hunt for an unnatural-born killer. Pitted against shamans, demons, and goons, it's a battle chilling enough to make a wild young woman grow up in a hurry. If she gets the chance.

Hanzel and Gretel

Last night, Spencer took me to see Hanzel and Gretel in opera. It was really good, I really enjoyed it. The actors and actresses all did good. The person playing Hanzel, the brother, was a woman, probably because Hanzel had to sing some kinda high notes that a guy would have had problems with. Spencer took me because he needed to go for his Creative Arts class as a makeup for a previous performance he had missed. He kept trying to sleep through it, but I wouldn't let him. I'm so mean I know. :P

Dime Store Magic by: Kelley Armstrong (3rd in series)

Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. Thy are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder--and frame Paige for the crime. It's an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive.

USU vs. Denver University

USU played Denver University Saturday night in hockey. We lost 6-3. We managed to keep ahead throughout the first and second period, but in the third period, we lost it. Spencer didn't dress out for this game, which kinda pissed him off, but he got over it. Eric dressed out and only played two shifts in the third period for like 40 seconds each shift. It sucked really. Julie and them were still here, so they came as well. In the third period, there was one big fight, where it was three different little fights happening at the same time. I think one of the DU players was kicked out of the game, and two of our players left the ice, there was like 1:30 or 2 minutes left in the game, so it was ok. One of our guys had his eyelid split open, which really sucked for him, but I'm pretty sure he had enough girls to help take the pain away. Yeah, Spencer, Eric, and one other guy on the team are the only LDS guys on the whole hockey team. This is the pee-wee hockey players that played between the first and second period! Most of the time, they fell down and were sitting on the ice, it was really cute!
Aren't they fricking adorable!!! They are only between the ages of 5-7 at the most. It was sooo cute!

After the game, everybody went swimming-which meant me, Spencer, Eric, Julie, Ben (her husband), Kelsy, and Brad. After we went swimming, we stayed over at Spencer's house and watched Shrek 2 while Ben cooked some antelope for us to eat. It was really good! First time I've ever had wild meat.

USU vs. San Jose State

On Friday, USU played San Jose State in hockey. We lost I think it was 3-2 or something like that, I don't remember. It was a good game. Spencer's sister, Julie and her husband and daughter were here from Montana visiting and they came to the game as well. It was an ok game, we lost, which sucked, but I don't think we played our best. Spencer and Eric dressed out, but they never got to play during the game, which really sucked. Callie, who is Spencer's niece, was playing with my McDonald's animals that I had on my purse and she started to throw them around, and two of them fell down between the players' bench and the spectators' bench, and fell underneath. They're probably still there if the staff hasn't found them yet, I didn't feel like going under to get them, so I lost them, oh well. Callie was so cute that I couldn't get mad at anybody, and plus, I just didn't care at all, I still have three left, so I'm ok.

Stolen by: Kelley Armstrong (2nd in series)

In Bitten, thirty-year-old Elena Michaels came to terms with her feral appetites and claimed the proud identity of a beautiful, successful woman--and the only living female werewolf.

In Stolen, on a mission for her own elite pack, she is lured into the net of ruthless Internet billionaire Tyrone Winsloe, who has funded a bogus scientific investigation of the "other races" and their supernatural powers. Kidnapped and studied in his underground lab deep in the Maine woods, these paranormals--witches, vampires, shamans, werewolves--are then released and hunted to the death in a real-world video game. But when Winsloe captures Elena, he finally meets his match.

Warren Miller's Playground (a movie)

Well today, a Warren Miller's movie called Playground was showed at the Kent Concert Hall on campus. I guess Warren Miller is an old guy who goes around the world and video tapes people extreme skiing and snowboarding. It was actually really cool. I enjoyed it. Plus when we went in, everybody got a free one day pass to go skiing or snowboarding in the Canyons, and a ticket to the Canyons is $76, so it is a good deal. Spencer and I are going to go skiing/snowboarding at least once for sure now. I haven't decided if I want to go skiing or snowboarding yet.

N*GGER, WETB*CK, CH*NK

N*GGER, WETB*CK, CH*NK is a play/musical about racial slurs against black people, mexicans, and asians. It was crude and talked about anything and everything that had to do with racial slurs but it was freaking hilarious. It was almost like watching Whose Line Is It Anyways? or something to that effect. These guys told about when they realized they were different and how they figured they were different. They told about different stories where they had racial slurs used against them and how they handled it. It was all freaking hilarious. Spencer took me to this because he had to go for his Creative Arts class and I am glad that he took me, it was great. They explained what each racial slur meant and when it came about and when it originated. It was a really great performance.

Bitten by: Kelley Armstrong (1st in series)

This is a really good book that hooked me from the first words. It is such a good book and I definitely recommend it to everybody who loves a good fiction novel.

Elena Michaels seems like the typically strong and sexy modern woman. She lives with her architect boyfriend, writes for a popular newspaper, and works out at the gym. She's also a werewolf.

Elena has done all she can to assimilate to the human world, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must reckon with who, and what, she is in this passionate, page-turning novel.

USU vs. BYU

So USU played BYU last night and OMG was it a good game!!! Oh it was a sweet game! No fights or anyone getting thrown out, which was good, although there was almost a fight but the refs stopped it. I ended having some BYU fans sitting next to me, which was really annoying, especially when he would cheer when BYU scored or one of our guys got hurt, which is what I was doing for USU, but that's beside the point. We won, and it was a freaking sweet win!!! The score was 3-2 with the winning shot being in overtime with 0.8 seconds left on the clock. The captain of the team scored and he is on defense, so it was weird to have him score, but whatever, I was so excited that we won!!!

The Undercover Economist by: Tim Harford

I had to read this book for my economics class and I didn't finish it, I didn't really like it, but then it is not a topic that really interests me.

The economy isn't a bunch of rather dull statistics with names like GDP (gross domestic product), notes Tim Harford, columnist and regular guest on NPR's Marketplace. "Economics is about who gets what and why." In this acclaimed and riveting book--part expose, part user's manual--the astute and entertaining columnist from the Financial Times demystifies the ways money works in the world, from why the coffee in your cup costs so much, to why efficiency is not necessarily the answer to ensuring a fair society, to improving health care and curing crosstown traffic. All the dirty little secrets of dollars and cents are delightfully revealed by The Undercover Economist.

USU vs. Weber State

Last night, USU hockey played Weber State. It was such a good game!!! We lost, which really sucked, but it wasn't until the very end that Weber pulled ahead so far, the score was 5-7. There were two fights during the game. The first one was either at the end of the first period or the beginning of the second period, I don't remember. One of our guys was thrown out of the game for the first fight. In the second fight, another one of our guys was thrown out and a member of Weber was thrown out as well. I don't know exactly why the first fight happened but the second fight happened because the USU goalie, Cornelius, had his hand on the puck, which means nobody is allowed to touch him, but a Weber member started hacking at Cornelius' hands trying to get the puck, well that is just foul play and so our defense started hitting this guy, than all hell broke loose. All 11 people down there, including Cornelius, just started swinging and hitting each other. There were gloves and helmets and sticks flying. In one of the fights that one of the refs was trying to break up, the ref was actually brought down to the ice and the other 2 refs had to come and help break it up. Holy cow the crowds were going wild, it was crazy. It really sucked that we lost, especially because there is some rivalry between our two schools. But I am really looking forward to the game tonight, we are playing BYU and the stadium is going to be packed, this is a game that everybody is going to want to come to.
Here is a pic of Eric and Spencer in their uniforms and pads.

This is me before the game teaching Spencer how to use my camera, he really liked this pic.

Thursday 11/1/07-Urinetown

On Thursday, Spencer took me to a play called Urinetown. He had to go for his creative arts class and since it was free to go, he took me as well. Urinetown is a play about what would happen if you had to pay to use a public restroom. It was pretty good, it was a musical and the actors and actresses did a good job. I really liked the numbers that they sang, it was an overall really good musical.

Hometeachers

Today my hometeachers finally came to see me. They came around 7:10 pm, although I guess they had set out around 6:45 pm, but they couldn't find the house, and just as they were about to call, they finally found me. My hometeachers names are DeLon and Ryan; they are both white, in case anybody was wondering. DeLon did pretty much all the talking, I think all Ryan did was say the prayer, and then he stared at the ceiling for the rest of the time. The lesson they gave was on the temples and why they are important; it was a good lesson, well presented and everything. So yeah, that's pretty much it.

Me

Here are some new pictures of me that I took a little while ago, I was bored and my camera finally started working again, so this is what I did.
This is a pic of me today, I took it before I left for school.

Spencer at the Ice Rink

This is what Spencer does before we go ice skating. He likes to goof around so I am a happy girl while ice skating.
It took him a little while before he was able to fit in that thing cuz it is made for little kids, but he got there! It was funny to watch him.

TIthe: A Modern Faerie Tale by: Holly Black (1st book in series)

This is a really good book, I read most of it at one of Spencer's games, that's how good it was, plus it is an easy read.

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms--a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Choir Performance

Today I had an Institute Choir Performance, we had an Institute Choir Fireside tonight, so I had to perform. We had it at the Tabernacle and so it was kind of crowded for the choir, but oh well, it was really cool. The choir sang the prelude, so we just "Oohed and Aahed" to the music until it was time to perform. Our opening song was the Latter-Day Voices choir singing (they're the special choir that you have to audition for). Then both choirs sang "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet", that song gave me chills, oh it was absolutely beautiful. It starts out with the choir singing it, then the conductor turns and the congregation sings along, then the choir sings a phrase or two more. The spirit was so strong tonight and I just got chills from the power of that song, it was amazing. Then my choir sang "Standing in the Need of Prayer" which is a gospel song that was lots of fun, then we sang "Homeward Bound" which is a beautiful song that the Tabernacle Choir sings, then we sang "Secret Prayer" which is also a pretty song. Then all the choirs sang a song called "One in Christ" which is, I guess, the theme song for this year, and that is an amazing song as well. The Latter-Day Voices sang "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and that song also gave me chills from the power of it; it is similar to "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet" where the congregation sings as well, and man did I have chills. It was really cool. Between each song, someone would bear their testimony and there were two girls who were doing this corny little thing throughout the program, but this is a Mormon Fireside, so corniness is allowed. Spencer agreed with me, he was there just to watch me perform, which was really sweet. So that is what I did today, other than church that is.

Snow

Today it snowed pretty much for the first time. It was really cool but at the same time it was weird. While it was snowing, there was also thunder and lightning, it was strange, and it was very cold. Very, very cold.

Oh My Freaking Gosh!!!

Ok so this morning was not a good start for the day. I started my period (sorry for any guys reading this) and it was kind of bad, my back was really sore and it was affecting my legs and I just felt like crap. Well when I went to the bathroom today, I was in there and I saw something out of the bottom of my vision and I look down and there was a cockroach skittering between my legs going under the stall door. OMG I started to freak out, I was hurrying and finishing my business and the whole time the roach was skittering back and forth under my door. Oh it was sooooooo gross! I finally finish and as I am getting ready to go, the roach had finally left, so I go to grab my purse, and my bookmark moved and I freaked out, so I jump back, and I saw ANOTHER roach, it skittered over my backpack and over to the wall. I was so freaked out that I could barely grab my bag to leave. I finally grab my stuff and go over to the entrance and drop my stuff and started to cry, oh I was freaking out!!! I finally managed to calm down, but I won't be using that bathroom again for the next year most likely, it was soooo freaking nasty!!!

The Green Mile by: Stephen King

Spencer told me to read this book because it was really good. This is the first Stephen King book that I have ever read and I think that it is really good.

At Cold Mountain Penitentiary, along the lonely stretch of cells known as the Green Mile, killers as depraved as the psychopathic "Billy the Kid" Wharton and the possessed Eduard Delacroix await death strapped in "Old Sparky." Here guards as decent as Paul Edgecombe and as sadistic as Percy Wetmore watch over them. But good or evil, innocent or guilty, none have ever seen the brutal likes of the new prisoner, John Coffey, sentenced to death for raping and murdering two young girls. Is Coffey a devil in human form? Or is he a far, far different kind of being?

There are more wonders in heaven and hell than anyone at Cold Mountain can imagine--as the truth emerges in shock waves that only Stephen King could create and a blast of revelation that will truly blow your mind.

General Conference

Today, I got to go to General Conference at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, obviously. It was really cool and a neat opportunity that I'm glad I got. The only problem was that it was morning conference, and I had to be over at Kendal's house at 7 am and I went to bed at like 11:45 pm and so I didn't get much sleep. So I ended up sleeping through the beginning part of Conference. What was really weird was that I would be awake when the speaker started, fall asleep through the talk, then wake up when they ended and then fall asleep once the next speaker started. So I just heard the beginning remarks of President Eyring and the beginning remarks of the new apostle, Elder Cook. I ended up waking up for good in the middle of the General Relief Society President's talk, which was good.

One thing that I really liked was at the beginning, everybody was talking and being a little noisy, but then everybody stood up and it was instantly quiet. President Hinckley had walked into the room, I could tell the instant I came in because I could just feel his presence from where I was, and I was on the top balcony in the far corner, oh it was absolutely amazing! My favorite talk, I think was Elder Bednar's talk, it was really good. One thing I liked was how he said, "You can have clean hands but not have a pure heart" and how he explained the way to have both clean hands and pure heart. It was really good, and I liked when President Hinckley got up to speak at the very end of the morning conference, it was really good; even though it was a repeat talk, but who can know when it was, it was one out of 200 something talks he's given. It was really funny how he started it, I was glad that I got to be there.

Kendal drove both of us to Salt Lake and we parked her car in front of an old missionary friend's house, I guess she met him at the end of his mission, his name was Jeff Christianson, I think, so his mom took us within walking distance of the Conference Center, and then we met up with one of her old companions, and her name was Melissa Dredge, or something like that, so I kind of felt like an outsider, as I was the youngest and had never been on a mission, but they were kind enough to include me in their conversations and explain things to me, so I had fun. After Conference, we split from Melissa, and Jeff's sister came and picked us up a little bit aways from the Conference Center, then Kendal and I drove home.

On the drive home, it was absolutely gorgeous!!! The trees were so beautiful with the changing seasons, I haven't seen such vivid colors on trees before, it was absolutely breathtaking!
This is a pic of the mountains with snow and the red trees.

Oh, and another thing I just remembered, Kendal and I had really good luck today. As we were driving this morning, we were in the horrible area where they are doing construction and there are barriers on both sides of the road. This stupid person had gotten a flat tire, and so instead of going a couple more feet to a place where he could pull off the interstate, he stopped in the middle of the interstate and changed his tire. Kendal was paying attention and so was able to turn around him, another truck wasn't so lucky, we were both commenting on the stupid person and we looked back and a truck had seen the people too late and had swerved to miss them and had crashed into the barrier in the fast lane, blocking all traffic, oh my gosh were we lucky, we had only cleared that by 10 seconds when it had happened. We made it to Salt Lake in like an hour and fifteen minutes, which isn't too bad, then we continued to have good luck throughout the rest of the day. When we went to the bathroom, there was no line, when we got out, like 1-2 minutes later, there was a huge line, it was crazy! Then we got home in about an hour and fifteen minutes again. It was crazy!

When Darkness Falls by: Shannon Drake

This is an extremely good book, it hooked me the instant I opened it!!! I couldn't put it down at all.

WHEN DARKNESS FALLS...
In a windswept Scottish cemetery, Jade MacGregor's carefree vacation abroad is marred by a seemingly random tragedy. A year later, back home on a shadowy French Quarter street, she glimpses an oddly familiar face. Coincidence--or something more disturbing?

AND TERROR TAKES HOLD... Surrounded by her friends and engrossed in her work, Jade should feel secure. But somebody is dogging her every move. Somebody who will try to rescue her from the evil that is waiting to destroy her.

The Black Dahlia by: James Ellroy

This is a really good book, you just have to get past the first couple of chapters and then you are hooked. The beginning doesn't make sense at first, but you'll get it a little bit into the book. I really recommend it.

On January 15, 1947, the torture-ravished body of a beautiful young woman is found in a Los Angeles vacant lot. The victim makes headlines as the Black Dahlia--and so begins the greatest manhunt in California history.

Caught up in the investigation are Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard: Warrants Squad cops, friends, and rivals in love with the same woman. But both are obsessed with the Dahlia--driven by dark needs to know everything about her past, to capture her killer, to possess the woman even in death. Their quest will take them on a hellish journey through the underbelly of postwar Hollywood, to the core of the dead girl's twisted life, past the extremes of their own psyches--into a region of total madness.

Scholarship Banquet & NVO

Last night I had to go to a scholarship banquet as a requirement for the Mary McAllister & Mark Bold Scholarship that was $9550.00. It was actually really interesting, we had a couple of really good guest speakers that knew how to keep you interested. At the table I was sitting at, I was the only freshman at the table, everybody else was either a sophomore, junior, or senior, we had a business ambassador sitting at my table, and we had the President and CEO of Westar Gas Company, I think that's what it was called, and we had a married couple that, I think, were scholarship donors and the husband was a professor of an M.B.A. college course.

After that, Spencer took me to NVO as a way to release some tension after a boring day at school, and he wanted to go dancing before he left for Colorado for his sister's wedding. He left this morning at like 4 am, which really sucks for him.

Spencer & Me

I finally got a pic of Spencer and me, so now everybody can leave me alone and quit naggin' me for one! Hehe!! This is pic of the night that Spencer asked me out, so it's kinda old, but I didn't have to take another of myself, so I'm happy with that!

Tests

Well, I decided today to post how I'm doing on my tests in my classes in school. In my History class, I got a 72/80 on my first Assessment (Test) which is a really good grade. In my Economics class, I got a 30/35 on my first mid-term in the class, and I have been getting 5/6's on all my quizzes that we have had so far. In my Sociology class, I got an 88/100 on my first exam in the class. In my Math class, I got an 83/100 when I first got the test back, but she let us correct it for 1/3 of our lost points back, so I'll see the corrected exam soon, and I have been getting good grades on the quizzes, don't ask me what they are out of because I have no idea. I have a quiz in Economics and Math today, I guess since it is so late, so I am not looking forward to that and I'll try to remember to post how I do on those later.

Visiting Teaching

Today I went visiting teaching for the first time with Kendal, she is my teaching companion. We were only able to visit one of our girls, her name is Tiffani and she has bi-polar, and she likes to tell everybody that she has bi-polar. I guess she is really artistic and creative, she writes books and music, she sings, and I think she draws as well. She was a really nice girl. Our lesson was on having one heart and one mind, Kendal gave the lesson since I've never done this before, and she was all missionary mode when we got there, it was pretty funny. We are still trying to get a hold of our other girl so we can be good and satisfied with our visiting teaching this month.

Ice Skating & Harry Potter

Yesterday, Spencer took me on a real date. We went ice skating and he took me to see the new Harry Potter movie. I had a blast!! I didn't fall when we went ice skating, which is a great feat for me, it also helped that every time I was about to fall, Spencer caught me and I didn't fall. He's a really good ice skater. We then went to see Harry Potter and the theater we were in was crap, but oh well, the movie was good, I liked it! I'll get a pic of us up here sooner or later, whenever I get around to it, sorry I haven't done it sooner.

Druid's Sword by: Sara Douglass (4th in series)

London, 1940. Londoners struggle to survive amidst the terror of the blitz's constant bombardment. But is it only Hitler's forces that are responsible for the overwhelming death and destruction?

Millennia ago, Brutus, Greek Kingman and creator of the Troy Game, brought the bands of power to the isle of Alba. Once again he arrives in London, this time as the handsome American major Jack Skelton. His eternal companions (and sometime lovers and enemies) have all been reborn in this pivotal time and place, for one last battle with the magical Labyrinth buried at the heart of the city.

The Labyrinth calls to them to finally complete the Game and set its entangled players free. As Jack works to achieve their fondest wish, he begins to sense a new, unexpected power shadowing the land. The shadow may be connected to the Game but--has its own secret agenda.

And it is hungry.

Ewan's Birthday

And here is Grandpa with Baby Silvie!

Well, today is Ewan's birthday, he just turned the big 4. He was very excited all day today, as you can imagine. Let's see, he got a flashlight, a new Backyardigan's movie, a computer (one that's for toddlers), cowboy dress-up clothes, farmer dress-up clothes (which look more like almost carpenter clothes than anything else), and he got astronaut clothes, which is what he's been wanting for months. Very cute!

This is Jude with Ewan's cowboy clothes on.
