Wicked Lovely by: Melissa Marr

This book was freaking awesome!!! I couldn't put it down and I ended up reading it in one day! I definitely recommend this book to any fantasy/sci fi lovers!!

Rule #3
: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty--especially if they learn of her Sight--and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rules #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost--regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

RIP Grandpa K!

So my Grandpa Kennedy died yesterday after a not so long struggle with cancer in his stomach lymph nodes. My mom called me as I was about to go upstairs at Kady's house to eat dinner asking me if Dad had called me. I said, "no" and I immediately knew that my Grandpa had died. He died around 2:50 pm yesterday. I am sad that he is gone, but I know he is not in pain anymore and that he is in a better place. Rest in Peace Grandpa! I will miss you and love you forever!

Blackberry Cobbler

Tonight, Keely made some blackberry cobbler for dessert. I tried some and I gave it honest effort, but I didn't like the taste of the blackberries and the texture was not to my liking. I gave it a try but, I'm sorry Keely, that just isn't on my list of fave's.

First day of Church

I had my first day in church today. I am in a Student/Singles Ward. Kendal and I are in the same ward, thank goodness, because she is my ride to church. There is a ward prayer tonight that I might go to if we are not eating dinner at that time, which we probably will be. I also found out that I won't be able to go to FHE Monday's because it is at the same time as my Math class, which is from 7-9 pm and FHE starts at 7. Oh well, maybe next year.

Protesters in Logan?!?

Yes, I did see protesters in Logan, right outside of the Tabernacle. I guess they were protesting the war and they do it every Friday. I think it is stupid to do something like that when everybody wants the war over and done with. But in my opinion, you don't have to agree with the war or even like the war, but you do need to support our troops that are out there fighting. A lot of the times, they don't want to go, but they do it anyway so that people who want to protest about something stupid like that can and can do it safely.
After I passed the protesters by the Tabernacle, I passed by a monument dedicated to veterans and soldiers who died during WWII. I thought that it was really cool to see so I took a picture of it.

Pics of Artwork at USU

I decided to put up the pictures that I took of the artwork at USU.
I can't remember where these are but they look cool.
He is by the tree looking things in front of a building I can't remember. This hand thing is on the way to a bunch of dorm rooms and the Fine Arts building.
This is on the way to the quad right outside the Taggart Student Center. I like it.
This is the Old Main building.
This is a closeup of the "A" for which it is famous for.
This is the "Hello" Sidewalk. It is right next to the quad and it is absolutely beautiful.
This is in the Business Building. These are the "French Fries" as everyone calls them.
These are in the library.
Also in the Library
This is in front of the Eccles Convention Center building.

Meeting Dr. Gawande

This morning when I got up, I was hurting. My body had really stiffened up from yesterday's abuse. I have been walking like a gimpy person because my hips have been killing me.

Today for Connections, we got to go to a Convocation (a discussion with important people) to meet Dr. Gawande, who wrote the book that we had to read for class. It was really cool, he was funny he and really knew how to speak to an audience. When he first started speaking, I was a little disappointed because for some reason while I was reading, I had given him an accent, but he has no accent in real life. It was a little weird and disappointing for some reason. Bert made us take notes during the Convocation so we could learn and practice the Cornell Note-Taking strategy that we will be learning about soon. After the discussion, we went back to class to review the Convocation and how we took our notes.
I wanted to get a picture with him, but I wasn't allowed because he had to go through everybody and then rush to catch his plane. But I did get a picture of him.
After class, I went and got my book signed by Dr. Gawande.

Hike to Wind Caves and more...

This is my Connections class and Bert's Wife's class.

This is looking up through the hole in the cave.

Well yesterday for class, we got to go and hike up to the Wind Caves in the Logan Canyon. They were absolutely beautiful!!! I hiked up in a pair of sneakers that I haven't worn in like 1 1/2-2 years, and they rubbed the skin off of my right heel and made me bleed, but that wasn't bad, I've had worse. We got back to campus and did regular class stuff, but my teacher Bert Sainsbury is anything but regular. We had some fun and did out-of-the ordinary assignments to make it fun. After school, I took the bus to Borders to redeem a coupon for 20% on a book. I missed the bus to the transit center and decided that I didn't want to wait 30 min. for the bus. So I started walking, a good idea in the beginning, but after 30-45 min. of walking, I was not doing good. My other shoe had rubbed the skin off of my left heel and it started to hurt really really bad! I got to about 100 W Center St when I finally saw a bus that was going to the transit center so I could get on the bus that takes me home. I was so relieved because with where I was, I still had a good 30-45 min. walk ahead of me. When I got back home, I took all of my stuff off, put it downstairs, and went over to Kady's house (Keely's sister lives 2 houses down) for the book club meeting. I was really hurting as I walked over there and my shoulders cramped up so bad that I could barely move. I finally took some Tylenol to help relax my muscles. That night, Keely, her sisters, her kids, and I went to the Box Elder County (I think) to the fair over there and had dinner and went on the Carousel (I had to look up the spelling for that).

First Day of School

I guess I should put something down about my first day of school yesterday, I almost forgot...Well it started at 9 am. My teacher is Bert Sainsbury, but we just call him Bert, or Vernal, or Bob, or Wilbur, or whatever it is that my fellow classmates call him...He is really funny! He makes it so you want to be in school and in his class because he makes it sooo interesting. At 1 pm, we did an Orienteering Tour of the school, it was kind of like a scavenger hunt for classrooms in different buildings. It was fun and we got an informal tour while doing it. Tomorrow for class, we are meeting up at 8:30 am to go to the Wind Caves to go hiking. I am really excited and I know I will have lots of fun!

The Scotsman Dog

Last night, Connections (which is my class I am taking right now) through a big BBQ and dance for us. They fed us a Scotsman Dog...I don't really know what it is or what is in it, but it tastes really good!

Me using an electric screwdriver

So on Tuesday night, my Uncle Chippy asked me to help fix up my room so I could move in sooner. What I had to do is I had to sit on the very cold, concrete floor and I had to screw on the faceplates for the outlets and light switches. But it wasn't that easy because I had to put washers behind all of the screws of the outlets and light switches, which was a pain in the butt! While working, I had turned to go into the closet and work on the light switch in there, and when I turned, my foot caught the bottom of the trim and sliced my toe open. It hurt, but I was tough and did not cry!
These are my legs all chalked up from sitting on the floor working!

Fire of the Covenant by:Gerald N. Lund

I absolutely LOVE this book!!! This is the third time I have read it, it is that good! I definitely recommend it to everybody else!

In the summer of 1856, three companies of handcarts were outfitted and sent west from Iowa to the Valley of the Great Salt Lake. All went well, and they arrived without undue incident. But two additional companies - one captained by James G. Willie, and the other by Edward Martin - left England late in the season. When they arrived at Iowa City, they were long past the time for safe departure across the plains. By the time they left Florence, Nebraska, with still more than a thousand miles to go, it was near the end of August. As if that were not serious enough, President Brigham Young thought that the arrival of the third company ended the migration for that season and ordered the resupply wagons back to Salt Lake.

Saw Kira Schmelter

Today, I went to church, of course. I probably dozed through most of it...sorry. But after church, I finished another essay (2 of 5) due on Wednesday...what a drag!...At around 5:30, my grandparents and I went to my Uncle Jeff's house to see him and my Aunt Luanna and my cousin Kira. She is the cutest, chubbiest little thing in the world! What was really funny is that she loved Grandma and I, but she wasn't too sure about Grandpa. Everytime he focused on her, she would start whimpering and grabbing onto either Jeff or Luanna, whoever was closest. It was the funniest thing ever! I've got some cute pics of her that I'll get up as soon as I can.

Thief of Lives by: Barb & J.C Hendee (2nd in series)

This was just as good as the first one and I can't wait to unpack the third book from the box in Chippy's garage.

Magiere the dhampir thinks that her nights of hunting vampires are over. After settling down in her newly adopted village of Miiska--now vampire-free thanks to her and her half-elf partner, Leesil--she looks forward to quiet days tending to her tavern.

But far away in the capital city of Bela, a prominent councilman's daughter has been found dead o her own doorstep...and all signs point to a vampire. Knowing that the battered and burned vallage of Miiska could use an infusion of cash, Bela's town council offers a generous bounty to the dhampir if she will slay their vampire. Magiere resists, wanting nothing more than to forget her past and ignore her half-vampire nature. Only Leesil can persuade Magiere to follow her destiny--before more innocents are claimed by darkness.

Eclipse by: Stephenie Meyer (3rd in series)

These books are OMG!! good!!! I absolutely loved them and I hope she writes another book! If she doesn't , then I will be really upset with her! I finished this book in about 25-26 hours, it was that good!

In the dead silence, all the details suddenly fell into place for me with a burst of intuition. Something Edward didn't want me to know. Something that Jacob wouldn't have kept from me. Something that had the Cullens and the wolves both in the woods, moving in hazardous prozimity to each other...

Something I'd been waiting for anyway. Something I knew would happen again, as much as I might wish it never would.

It was never going to end, was it?

Dhampir by: Barb & J.C. Hendee (1st in series)

I really enjoyed this book, it hooked me in from the start and left me wanting for more at the end. A really good read!

Magiere has earned a reputation as the most formidable vampire slayer in the land. Villagers far and wide welcome her with both awe and disdain, grateful to her for ridding their towns of the undead menace, but finding themselves made poorer for their salvation. Magiere has always known she's dealing with simple folk who only wish to have their superstitions silenced, and she's never seen anything wrong with exploiting them for profit.

Now, tired of the game, Magiere and her partner, the half-elf Leesil, are ready to hang up their weapons and settle down in a place they can finally call home। But their newfound peace will not last. For Magiere has come to the attention of a trio of powerful and dangerous vampires who recognize her true identity--and who fear the birthright that flows through her veins. And they will stop at nothing to keep Magiere from fulfilling her destiny...

I tried something new!

Today, Grandma asked me if I liked nectarines. I've never heard of them before, so I said so. She had me try it and I liked it! Shocker, huh Mom! :)

I'm a Baby!

Yesterday, my parents left me at my grandma's house for college. I was doing really good all day even though I knew they would be leaving soon. As soon as my mom gave me her first goodbye hug (we had many before they left), I started crying. My mom was hugging me and she was like, "You're crying, stop crying, you don't need to cry." I know I didn't need to, but I did anyway, I am a big baby when it comes to my mom, she's my best friend in the whole, wide world :) When I gave my dad a hug, he just laughed and told me it was ok. I stayed downstairs to compose myself, then went upstairs. My mom had to get pics of me, then me and my grandparents, then me and mom and dad. I cried again as they were leaving, and ended up going downstairs and crying until I stopped. I read my book until I knew for sure I wouldn't cry again. Then I went upstairs and watched TV with Grandma and Grandpa, we watched John Wayne movies and "The Untouchables" with young Sean Connery, Robert Di Niro, and Kevin Costner. After that, I went to bed, and I cried myself to sleep. I woke up at like 10 or 11 and stayed in bed reading until 1. Then I got up, ate lunch and now I am working on a paper for college that is due Wednesday.
