Peeps by: Scott Westerfeld (1st in series)

This was a good book, but it wasn't what I expected. Every other chapter gives you random facts about random parasites. It's very interesting but I was not expecting it. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it to everybody else.

OKAY, LET'S CLEAR UP SOME MYTHS ABOUT VAMPIRES. FIRST OF ALL, YOU WON'T SEE ME USING THE V-WORD MUCH. IN THE NIGHT WATCH, WE PREFER THE TERM PARASITE POSITIVE, OR PEEPS FOR SHORT.

THE MAIN THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT THERE'S NO MAGIC INVOLVED. NO FLYING. NO TRANSFORMING INTO BATS OR RATS EITHER. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A DISEASE.

After a chance encounter with a mysterious woman one night, Cal Thompson's life is changed forever. He's been infected with an insidious parsite. The good news: he's only a carrier--still sane, without the worst of the symptoms. The bad news: he's infected all his former girlfriends--and now they've turned into what Cal calls peeps. The rest of us call them vampires. And it's Cal's job to hunt them down before they create even more of their kind...

Catherine and the Pirate by: Karen Hawkins (6th in series)

This was a good book, but a definite easy read. I have wanted to read this book for a long time, so i was excited when I found it for a decent price. The series is called "Avon True Romance", it is a romance series by different authors but it is geared towards teenagers, so there is no smut in it.

CATHERINE
Born to a prominent Boston family, Catherine Markham is a bit of a hellion despite her gentle upbringing. Stifled by the rules imposed by society, Catherine yearns for adventure. When her beloved brother is kidnapped, she decides to deliver the ransom herself--with the help of a young man few others might turn to.

THE PIRATE
Derrick St. John lives on the edge. The memory of his dead father tainted by treason, Derrick's life has been spent at sea in both legal and not-so-legal pursuits. Determined to clear his father's name, the last thing this young pirate wants is to embark on a voyage to Savannah in the midst of a war with the British, much less with a young lady who spells trouble at every turn.

An emotion stronger than caution takes hold of Derrick, and he finds himself unable to refuse Catherine's plea for assistance, even though the journey promises peril for them both. And so the headstrong girl and the daring sea captain sail into an exhilarating adventure that fast becomes a journey of the heart.

The Host by: Stephenie Meyer

This book was sooooo good!!! I could not put it down and I found myself reading it until 2 am every night. I finished this book in two or three days. I definitely recommend this book for everybody!!! On Stephenie Meyer's website for this book, there is a quote that I like: "Science fiction for people who don't like science fiction." This is totally true, I believe that everybody will love this book!

MELANIE STRYDER REFUSES TO FADE AWAY.

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves--Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

Happy Birthday to Me and Happy Mothers' Day to Mom!

Mothers' Day was on Sunday as everybody knows. I spent Mothers' Day at my Grandpa Barlow's new house. I had a lot of fun there and I really love Grandpa's new house, it is absolutely beautiful! I got Mom a Willow Tree figurine called "Mother and Daughter", maybe Mom will put a picture of it up on her blog, but I thought it was really cute! Happy Mothers' Day MOM!!!

My birthday was also on Sunday, and I turned 19. I went up Saturday to see my aunt Lydia, who is younger than I am. She took me to Ross and bought me two shirts and that night, we went to this kids house. His name was Hyrum and I guess I'm related to him somehow, but whatever. We had fun playing cards and getting two other kids drunk as heck. They were really funny and way easy to mess with their heads. For my birthday, I got some groceries from Mark and Keely and they gave me money to see Iron Man again. Brad, Kelsy and Kendal all gave me a $30 gift card to Borders'. Grandpa and Ann gave me a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble and they gave me a pair of flip flops and a t-shirt.

The Emerald Flame by: Patricia Hickman (3rd in series)

This book was extremely good!!! I finished it last night, I really really enjoyed it.

With the flash of the British red coats, Kelsey McBride is suddenly torn from her beloved green hills of Kildare when her mother is arrested and convicted as a dissident in the Irish Rebellion. They promptly find themselves sentenced to be transported to the Australian penal colony of Sydney Cove. Kelsey's determination to return to Ireland takes an unexpected turn when young Caleb Prentice and his family extend to her the love and care she has never known.

Rachel Langley returns to the Land Down Under from England and is surprised to discover that the Reverend Heath Whitley has patiently waited for her and is asking for her hand in marriage. She also quickly discovers that Sydney Cove is caught in the throes of the smoldering unrest of the Irish convicts.

When violence strikes the Prentice family at Rose Hill, and rebellion stirs the convicts to revolt in the Battle of Castle Hill, no one can escape the dreadful consequences. Will all that they have finally gained be lost in the hostile blaze?

Angel of the Outback by: Patricia Hickman (2nd in series)

I finished this book on Friday or Saturday. I don't have internet access at my house, and the campus is closed on Saturday and Sunday. So I wasn't able to blog it when I finished. I really liked this book!

Having fulfilled a seven-year-transportation sentence in the wilds of England's foundling Australia, Rachel Langley finally obtains her freedom. Weakened from the starvation years, she soon realizes that freedom in a drought- and plague-ridden colony remains a battle for survival. But when her only friend is murdered by an unknown assassin, Rachel must flee for her life.

Rachel finds refuge with a young minister, Reverend Whitley, and later she finds work at the Prentice's struggling plantation. But her commitment remains to discover her friend's assassin. What she doesn't realize is that she is being drawn into a trap that threatens to end her life and destroy the Prentices.

When a beautiful officer's daughter, Felicity Thompson, sets her eyes on the Reverend Whitley, the dark secrets that Rachel has kept hidden from him stand in the way of her true feelings. Dare she tell him the truth?

Voyage of the Exiles by: Patricia Hickman (1st in series)

I checked this book out from the library because the covers caught my eye. The book was actually really good. I liked it a lot, I recommend it to everybody who wants a good read.

Sentenced to the gallows as a convicted pickpocket, George Prentice's fortunes change when the sentence is reduced to serving seven years of hard labor in New South Wales. Along with over seven hundred British convicts destined for transport on a fleet of eleven ships, Prentice suddenly finds himself torn apart from his family and bound as a colony slave for a strange land sixteen thousand miles from England.

Not knowing that his daughter Katy has found employment with the fleet's captain, or that his wife Amelia has been falsely accused of stealing and sentenced for transporting on another slave ship, George Prentice mourns the loss of his family, believing they will be separated forever. Ruthless jailors, storms, sharks, disease, squalor, and broken hearts threaten to destroy their wills to live.

From the outset in 1787, the Botany Bay Expedition under Captain Arthur Phillip faces grave dangers at sea as well as on board ship. Unaware of what lies before them, will the exiles survive to brave the wild frontiers of Australia?

I'VE MOVED!!!

Ok, I have finally moved into my new apartment. It is not the place that I said I was moving into earlier. That place was too expensive for me. The place I am living in now is called "Twin Towers". There are only 4 apartments but there are 6 girls living in each apartment. So I have met 4 of my room mates, and I have not yet met the girl who will be sharing a room with me. So I will get pictures of my room and apartment as soon as I take some.

Towers of Brierley by: Anita Stansfield

This is one of my absolute favorite books ever!!! OMG I absolutely love it!!! If anybody wants a good book to read, this is a definite book that you will want to read over and over again and you won't get enough of it.

Set in eighteenth-century Scotland, this fast-paced historical romance sweeps the reader into a world of suspense, intrigue, murder, vengeance--and a love strong enough to conquer Brierley and all it stands for.

Haunted by secrets and questions about his birth, Gavin leaves Brierley, returning years later to confront the lies of the past.

To Anya Ross, Brierley is like the fairy-tale castle of her dreams. But when her great-uncle is murdered, and the remnants of the MacBrier clan torment her at every turn, her dream turns into a nightmare.

Anya and Gavin are drawn together by the mottled past they share. But this bond becomes a wedge that threatens to drive them apart as sinister forces confront them at every turn.

Only Gavin holds the key to undoing an evil he doesn't even understand--the key that can free Anya and himself from the chains of fear and hatred.

Broke Up

Just so everybody knows, Spencer and I have officially broken up as of yesterday. We feel that it is too difficult to stay a couple over the summer with us in different states. So I don't know what will happen after school starts in the fall, but I do know that we have broken up and are no longer a couple. It sucks, but what can we do. This will give us a chance to date and meet other people. =(

The Secret Hour by: Scott Westerfeld (1st in series)

This was such a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I loved every minute of it. I definitely recommend this series to everybody!

STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AT MIDNIGHT IN THE TOWN OF BIXBY, OKLAHOMA. TIME FREEZES. NOBODY MOVES.

For one secret hour each night, the town belongs to the dark creatures that haunt the shadows. Only a small group of teenagers know about the secret hour--only they are free to move about the midnight time.

They call themselves Midnighters.

Then Jessica Day moves to town...and everything changes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARISSA!!!

Today is Karissa's 8th birthday. So this is a Happy Birthday to her! Love you lots Baby Girl!!! These are my favorite pictures of Karissa that I have of her. Isn't she so cute =P

Movie: Iron Man

Spencer took me out to the movies on Thursday for my birthday, which is a little early, but that's ok because he won't be here for my actual birthday. We went to dinner at the Golden Corral, which was a buffet restaurant. Then we went to the movies, now we thought that we were going to see "21", even though Spencer had already seen it. But when we got there, we saw that there was a showing of "Iron Man" at the same time as "21", so we decided on "Iron Man", and I'm so glad we did. That movie was freaking awesome!!! OMG it was so awesome. I'm definitely glad we went and saw it. I definitely give that movie 5 stars.

Coming Out by: Danielle Steel

This was a really good book to listen to. I cheated and listened to it on my iPod. But it was really good. I liked all the twists and turns and surprises that happened in this book.

Olympia Crawford Rubinstein has a busy legal career, a solid marriage, and a way of managing her thriving family with grace, humor, and boundless energy. With twin daughters finishing high school, a son at Dartmouth, and a kindergartner from her second marriage, there seems to be no challenge to which Olympia cannot rise. Until one sunny day in May, when she opens an invitation for her daughters to attend the most exclusive coming-out ball in New York--and chaos erupts all around her. One twin's excitement is balance by the other's outrage, and Olympia's previous husband's profound snobbism is in sharp contrast to her current husband's flat refusal to attend.

For Olympia's husband, Harry, whose parents survived the Holocaust, the idea of a blue blood debutante ball is abhorrent. Her daughter Veronica, a natural born rebel, agrees--while Veronica's identical twin, Virginia, is already shopping for the perfect dress. Then there's Olympia's ex, an insufferable snob, who sees the ball as the perfect opportunity for a family feud. And amid all the hubbub, Olympia's college-age son, Charlie, is facing a turning point in his life--and may need his mother more than ever. But despite it all, Olympia is determined to steer her family through the event--until, just days before the cotillion, things begin to unravel with alarming speed.

From a son's crisis to a daughter's heartbreak, from a case of the chickenpox to a political debate raging in her household, Olympia is on the verge of surrender. And that is when, in a series of startling choices and changes of heart, family, friends, and even a blue-haired teenager all find a way to turn a night of calamity into an evening of magic. As old wounds are healed, barriers are shattered, and new traditions are born, a debutante ball becomes a catalyst for change, revelation, acceptance, and love.

Unlikely Match by: Beverly King

This was a really good book. I really enjoyed it.

It's finally happening--after countless rejection letters, Maggie Summers, an aspiring writer, is on the verge of publishing her first manuscript. But just as her lifelong dream is about to come true, Maggie's self-serving brother-in-law manipulates her into caring for his children as a crisis erupts in their family.

Her only source of solace is David Rosenberg, a local Jewish doctor who encourages Maggie to follow her dream, while he helps her care for her family. With David's help, Maggie believes she just might be able to get her life and dream back on track. But an unexpected love starts to grow between them, a love that tears into Maggie's very soul. Knowing that their different faiths prevent them from making a life together, Maggie faces more than losing her dream. She risks losing the only man who has ever truly loved her.

Oceans of Fire by: Christine Feehan (3rd in series)

This was such a good book!!! I think that this one might be my favorite so far, but I am excited to read Joley's book, her's will be really good I think.

As the third daughter in a magical bloodline, Abigail Drake was born with a mystical affinity for water, and possessed a particularly strong bond with dolphins. She spent her entire life studying them, learning from them, and swimming among them in the waters off her home-town of Sea Haven...

Until the day Abby witnessed a cold-blooded murder on shore and found herself fleeing for her life--right into the arms of Alexsandr Volstov. He's an Interpol agent on the trail of stolen Russian antiquities, a relentless man who gets what he goes after--and the man who broke Abby's heart. But he isn't going to let the only woman he ever loved be placed in harm's way--or slip away from his embrace...

Safe Harbor by: Christine Feehan (5th in series)

Another good book by Christine Feehan. I had finished this on Tuesday, but I just now blogged it. I'll be blogging the book I'm reading now by tonight or tomorrow. These are great books, but I prefer the GhostWalker series, although this series is good too.

One of seven daughters in a line of extraordinary women, Hannah Drake has been the elusive object of affection for Jonas Harrington for as long as the rugged sheriff can remember. If only the stunning supermodel was driven by a passion other than her career. But Jonas isn't the only one with desires for Hannah.

From the shadows has emerged a vengeful figure who stalks the beauty with one terrifying purpose: to strip her of all she is and destroy her. Only one man was destined as her protector. Now, out of a storm of danger, Jonas must guide the woman he loves from a sinister darkness that threatens not only Hannah, but the entire Drake family.

Mind Game by: Christine Feehan (2nd in series)

Lady of Palenque by: Anna Kirwan (The Royal Diaries Series)

I have always liked these books, Mom got me hooked on them in elementary school. This is one of the ones that I don't one yet, I borrowed it from the library. This was a really good book. If you are looking for a good, fast book to read for yourself, or if you want your daughter to read a good, clean book, here is a series that you need to look at. It is called The Royal Diaries series. They are really, really, really good.

LADY OF PALENQUE: Flower of Bacal, Mesoamerica, A.D. 749.

9.15.18.2.11 9 Chuen 14 Mol [July 7]

Lakamha, Bacal Highland

I thought, now that I leave Lakamha, I may never return. I may never see my family again. Well, perhaps I will see some of them. But I will be like the water that comes down from a spring down deep in the heart of a mountain cavern. It can flow and seep and pool and cascade all the way down to the water lily fields, all the way down to the big river, all the way to the marshes and the great salt sea...

But it can never flow back uphill to its home.

I will never forget Lakamha, even if Lakamha forgets me.

Movie: Street Kings

Today is mine and Spencer's 7 month anniversary day. So he took me out to the theater to see Street Kings. It was a really good movie. I think I had seen one preview for this show, but I liked it. I will have to give this show a 4 star.

Tom Ludlow is a veteran LAPD cop who finds life difficult to navigate after the death of his wife. When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he's been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.

Rising Storm by: Jessica Draper & Richard D. Draper (2nd in series)

This is a really good book. It took me longer to read this then any of my other books. I didn't know that this was part of a trilogy, so I read this before the first book. I'm going to listen to the third book on CD, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the trilogy will end, this book was extremely good!!!

Economies are failing, terrorist acts are becoming more extreme, and chaos is spreading throughout the world as more signs of the times appear. The chasm between good and evil is widening.

Now, safely hidden in Salt Lake City, Merry Galen feverishly works on an antidote to the MetaGen's AllSafe vaccine before this biological time bomb kills millions who can no longer afford the required booster doses.

Meanwhile, her rescuers face the wrath of MetaGen officers, and the courageous Callata family is forced from their San Diego home to an area that may be even more dangerous to dedicated Mormons. Thousands of miles away, their missionary son also faces peril as the evil General Garza continues to seize control of a succession of Latin American countries.

The political and social fabric of the world is disintegrating as a rising storm of natural disasters changes the face of the earth.

It is a time when deception makes it difficult to discern good from evil--a time when everyone must choose whose side they're on.

This is such a good song!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Chris Brown Lyrics
With You Lyrics

Running

So Spencer and I went running today. I ran 3.20 miles and I burned 384 calories in 35 minutes.

The Emerald by: Jennie Hansen

I cheated with this book, I listened to it on cd. But this was such a good book!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I definitely recommend it to anybody who wants a good read!

Something fell to the floor with a soft clunk. Margarette stared at the object in disbelief. Matthew moved closer, his eyes following hers. There on the rough planks lay a small black bag. He reached for it and as Soren, Anna, and Jens crowded around, he released the cord that held it closed and gently shook the contents onto Margarette's bunk.

A glittering bracelet dropped onto a quilt square. All four adults gasped in astonishment. The metal chain appeared to be of inferior quality, but five large stones, each a different color, gleamed almost as though they were hungry to claim the small amount of light in the ship's gloomy interior.

Who had put the bracelet there, and why? Was it the frightened, beautiful woman who had snatched Margarette's infant daughter, and then hastily returned her? Would the bracelet, and the handsome new convert Matthew Holmes, prove to be the answer to her desperate prayers on her journey to join the Saints in America?

Donated Plasma!

Ha! I was finally able to donate plasma today! I went to go donate on Saturday with Spencer, but my pulse was too high the 5 times they checked it, I almost got it the last time, but it was still 3 over. This time, I got in on the 2nd time, the first time my pulse was 116, the second time it was 96, I think.

So I am going along, pumping away, feeling absolutely great, when people start coming over and looking at my monitor and having me sit up straighter in my chair. I guess my blood wasn't flowing the fast enough, it was too slow. So they are trying to make it so that my blood will go faster. So the guy who stuck me the first time comes over and starts checking the needle to make sure it was in my vein properly, so he is pushing it a little and trying to get it in place.

Now when he started doing this, I was fine, but then it started to hurt, and I told him and he apologized each time. Pretty soon, my body is getting really hot. So I tell him, and he went and got me an ice pack. Then my hand started to fall asleep, like really bad, and I told him. So he went to go tell the machine to cycle my blood back into me, and he accidentally told it that I was done, so I ended being done with a third of my bottle still empty, but oh well. I started to get really light headed. So he had me talking to him, to keep me focused when all of a sudden I had the strong urge to throw up. So I told him I needed to and he brought the trash can up, I heaved twice, threw up each time, and I was done. I got some water to clear my mouth out and get some water in me, after they were sure I wasn't nauseous anymore.

They ended up putting saline into me again to help make sure that I would be all right. They asked me questions about what happened exactly and then after they were sure that I would be alright, they gave me cookies and a capri-sun and had me sit in a chair to wait and get paid. I got my $30 and I left. Now just so everybody knows, I was feeling perfectly fine and dandy up to the point that they started playing with my needle. If they had left me alone, even going at a slower rate, I would have been fine. So I hope that next time, I will be just fine.

Movie: I Am Legend

So I went and saw "I Am Legend" on campus last night for free. USU has free movies every once in awhile. I hadn't seen this yet, so I decided to go. I made Spencer come with me, well, not really, I told him I was going and that he could come with me if he wanted to. I thought the movie was pretty good, was pretty shocked when the monsters first came out, I hadn't really understood what this movie was about, but I liked it. I will give it a 3 1/2 or 4 stars.

Middle Name Meme

Mom tagged me with this Middle Name Meme, which is what I'm going to call it.

Here is how it works: You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details).

My middle name is Lynne. I really like this name, I think that it is cute. It is my Grandma Kennedy's name, but her name is spelled Lynne.

L: Loyal-I am a very loyal person to my friends and family. I will never betray anybody and I love being with my friends and family. I am a great confidante for them.

Y: Young-I had a very hard time with this one. I could not really find a word that starts with "Y". I chose to do "young" because I am very young in the way of the world, I am also the youngest out of my group of friends.

N: Nice-I am a very nice person to most people. There are only a very few people who I actually dislike and I am not nice to, but they are few and far between.

N: Neat-I am a very neat person, and by neat, I mean pretty tidy. I almost always organized and I like it when everything has a place and they are there. I don't like it when something is messy, so I am a pretty neat person.

E: Easygoing-I stole this from Mom because I am tired of looking through the dictionary. I am a fairly easygoing person. I don't freak out very often and I am a very positive person.

Ok, I have to tag 5 people, that's a lot. So I will tag Shanna, LeAnn, Shaela, Montse, and Kassi. I don't know who all will actually play, but good luck!

No Humans Involved by: Kelley Armstrong (7th in series)

This was such a good book! Kelley Armstrong is an amazing author and she really wrote a great book here. I found that I was hooked in from the beginning and as it got closer to the end, I found that I was gripping the book tightly and reading as fast as I could to see what happened next. I definitely recommend this book to everybody!!!

In her acclaimed Women of the Otherworld series, bestselling author Kelley Armstrong creates a present day in which humans unwittingly coexist with supernatural beings. Now, in this spellbinding new novel, a beautiful necromancer must come to terms with her power--and an evil she never thought possible.

It's the most anticipated reality television event of the season: three spiritualists gathered together in one house to raise the ghost of Marilyn Monroe. For celebrity medium Jaime Vegas, it's her best shot at the celebrity holy grail: a TV show of her own. Because, unlike her colleagues, who are more style than substance, Jaime is the real thing.

Yet reluctant to upstage her fellow spiritualists, Jaime suppresses her talents, as she has always done. But something is lurking in the gardens behind the house: trapped spirits without a voice. And for the first time, Jaime understands what it means to be haunted. When events culminate in a psychic showdown, she must use her darkest power to defeat a shocking enemy--one whose force comes from the last realm she expected...

Just to let everybody know, I now have an apartment/dorm for this summer and fall. It is at the "Student Living and Learning Center" and it is one of the brand new on-campus apartments and it is supposed to be really nice. For the summer, it will cost $575 total and for the fall, it will cost $2600 total, but that also includes 10 meals a week. The ladies at the housing office were really nice and clarified everything for me.

Donated Plasma

So I donated plasma for the very first time today. It was really cool to do, but I was there forever. I got to the plasma center at about 1:15 pm, and I didn't leave the plasma center until about 6:15 or 6:30 pm. One reason why it took so long was that I was a new donor, so I had to go through all the questions and I had to get a quick physical done to make sure I was healthy. Before I got to the physical, I probably waited for a good hour and a half. Then when I finally got to the room where they pull the plasma out, I had to wait another 20 minutes. They liked to make you wait there.

When I was finally told it was my turn, I was like "sheesh, finally", in my head of course. So they hooked me up, put the needle in and explained everything to me and told me that if I needed help, to just call and one of the 5 people working there would be there immediately. So I was doing great, I got in a session of pumping, relaxing, and pumping again before I started to feel sick.

Now, I hadn't eaten since 12 or 12:30, and by the time they put the needle in me, it was 4:15. Now one of the questions that they ask is if you had eaten within the last four hours, when I had answered that question, it was 2, so I was like, "yeah, i'm going to be fine". Not exactly.

After that last session of pumping, I started to feel light-headed. I soon started to see little white dots everywhere and I was losing feeling to my hand that had been pumping. I immediately knew that if I didn't get help, I was going to pass out. So I tried to say "excuse me", but my throat was too dry and the guy next to me didn't even hear me. So I wet my throat with my spit and called out again. By this time, I was having a hard time seeing anything because of all the white dots. The guy next to me heard me and looked over, I saw him looking and told him that I needed help. He immediately called out and someone came over quickly.

The guy that first got to me asked if I was ok, I said "no" because I wasn't. I told him that I was really light-headed and kinda dizzy and that I was really hot. He had one of his coworkers grab an arm rest and they put it under my legs to elevate them. Someone grabbed me an icepack and they put that on my stomach, because that is where I wanted it so I wouldn't feel like throwing up. By this time, I was feeling better because of them elevating my legs. They gave me water once they found out that I wasn't nauseous anymore. I sat there for about 5-10 minutes before I continued.

Now this whole time, the workers there told me that this was a normal occurence. Especially since this was my first time and because I am so little. It also didn't help that it had been awhile since I had eaten. After I calmed down, I guess that's what I will call it, about every two minutes, I had somebody coming over to make sure that I was still ok.

Once I felt better, I told them that I was ready to go on. I got in another pumping session, but by the end of it, my hand was all tingly and I was having a had time pumping because I couldn't feel my hand anymore. I also started to feel really hot again. The guy that had first gotten to me the first time came over to see how I was doing and I told him that I was having problems feeling my hand and that I was really hot again. He paused the machine, maybe (I don't know what he really did) and he got me another icepack for the back of my neck.

By this time, the supervisors were brought over and they debated stopping the machine altogether, which they ended up doing. It was ok though because my bottle that I was filling up with plasma was basically full. The head supervisor, came over and told me that they were going to give me some saline (I think that's how you spell it) to help me feel better faster. So they put me on that, and it was really cold. It felt really weird. When they first put me on it, it felt really good, and it made me feel better a lot faster. But by the end, I was feeling really cold, like I had started to shiver.

After everything was done, and they filled out their "incidence report", they gave me some cookies and a capri-sun to give me some sugar. After they were sure that I was ok, they brought me to the front desk and paid me my $30. They told me that next time I donated, I wouldn't have the same problems and that it would be much faster, which I was glad to hear. I left and went to KFC and got a snacker to help me feel a little better. When I got home, I had an apple and a glass of orange juice.

Finding Noel by: Richard Paul Evans

This was a really good book, and a really easy read, I wasn't counting on that. I loved the story and it is a good, simple story about how one simple act of kindness can change someone's world. I definitely recommend this to everybody!

"There are stories, Christmas stories that are stored away like boxes of garlands and frosted glass ornaments, to be brought out and cherished each year. I've come to believe that my story is a Christmas story, for it has forever changed the way I see Christmas."

The Christmas season is supposed to be full of joy, but not for Mark Smart. Life had dealt him one body blow after another: he lost his scholarship and had to drop out of school; his beloved mother had died in a car crash; his girlfriend dumped him; and now, late on a snowy night in November, his car had broken down. Stumbling into a coffee house, he was looking for a phone to call a tow truck. What he found was a beautiful young woman with an unusual name who, through a simple act of kindness, changed his life forever.

Macy Wood had little memory of her birth parents and memories she'd rather forget of her adopted home. A Christmas ornament inscribed with the word "Noel" was the single clue to the little sister she only vaguely remembered, a clue that would send her and Mark on a journey to reclaim her past and her family.

Lessons learned or earned by you!!!

A lesson that should be taught in all schools!Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.Looking around, confused, they asked,"Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?"She replied, "You can't have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk."They thought, "Well, maybe it's our grades.""No," she said.Maybe it's our behavior."She told them, "No, it's not even your behavior. And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period.Still no desks in the classroom.
By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom.Martha Cothren said, "Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you."
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall.By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.
Martha said, "You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it."
By the way, this is a true story... .If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you read it in English, thank a soldier.
I got this from my mom, and I took it without asking her and I don't care. I also would like to personally thank my dad for serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. I would also like to thank every soldier who is out there serving our country! I know that it is a hard thing for you to do, and I would like to let you know that I am grateful that you are serving our country. Thank you and God Bless America and the soldiers out there!!!

The Crystal Shard by: R.A. Salvatore (1st in Icewind Dale Trilogy)

This was such a good book! I have really enjoyed all of the Drizzt books!

Akar Kessel, a weak-willed apprentice mage sets in motion events leading to the rediscovery of the magical device, the crystal shard. But is it merely an inanimate device . . . or is it capable of directing the defeat of Ten-Towns?

Or have the barbarians already arranged for that themselves? Their brutal attack on the villages of Ten-Towns seals their fate, and that of the youn barbarian Wulfgar. Left for dead, Wulfgar is rescued by the dwarf, Bruenor, in exchange for five years of service . . . and friendship. With the help of the dark elf, Drizzt, Bruenor reshapes Wulfgar into a warrior with both brawn and brains.

But is Wulfgar strong enough to reunite the barbarian tribes? Can an unorthodox dwarf and renegade dark elf persuade the people of Ten-Towns to put aside their petty differences in time to stave off the forces of the crystal shard?

Utah State vs. University of Utah

On Friday, USU played U of U. We beat them 6-3. Spencer and Eric actually got to play this game, although that was simply because this was the last game of the season. Spencer and Eric were on a line with 2 other guys, this was dumb because you are only supposed to have 3 guys on a line, not 4. So it sucked for them. Spencer told me before the game that he was going to get in a fight, he really wanted to. So in the second period, Spencer is skating along, and "accidentally" elbowed some guy in the head. I don't know if it was on purpose, so that is why there are parantheses. After this happened, this other guy, who had also tried to pick a fight with Spencer earlier, came up and cross-checked him in the neck. (Cross-checking, for those of you who don't know, is when they take their stick, put their hands at opposite ends, and then hit somebody with it.) So Spencer nomrally would have just walked away, but since there was 4 people on his line, he decided to fight the kid. Now this kid hurried and jabbed Spencer twice in the side before Spencer wailed on him. Spencer knocked the kids helmet off, and when he tried to drop his gloves so he could fight better, they wouldn't slide off, so he just started hitting. Now this kid is about as tall as I am, maybe a little taller, and so Spencer just started wailing on his face like it was no big deal, he probably got in 3 or 4 good hits before the ref's came and separated them. Spencer and the other kid got kicked out, but the other kid got called on instigating the fight, which he did. Spencer just finished it. I took pics of the fight, but I have to wait till Spencer emails them to me, but I will post them as soon as I can.

The Goose Girl by: Shannon Hale (1st in series)

This is a really good book! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I definitely recommend it to everybody!

Page Excerpt:

She was born Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee, Crown Princess of Kildenree, and she did not open her eyes for three days.

The pacing queen directed ministers and physicians to the crib. They listened to her breathing and her hummingbird heart, felt her fierce grip and her tiny fingers soft as salamander skin. All was sound. But her eyes did not open.

For three days the grave-faced attendants came and went. They prodded her, lifted her lids, slipped thick yellow syrups down her throat.

"You are a princess," the queen whispered to her ear. "Open your eyes."

The baby cooed in her sleep.

When the third day had worn away to the lake blue of evening, a hand parted the nursery curtains. All was still for the night. The queen dozed on the bed. The baby in her crib dreamed of milk, her round, perfect lips nursing in sleep. A woman in a fern green robe pulled aside the curtains and tiptoed across the carpets. She slid her callused hands under the infant's back and head, held her up, and grinned.

"Did you call me out of my house to come and tell you stories?" she said. "I will, my fat one, if you will listen."

The queen awoke to the sounds of the rocking chair creaking and a voice singing about magpies and pigeons. She stood up, ready to call to the guards, then saw that it was her own sister who sang to the baby, and that the baby was looking back at her aunt with wide eyes.

It was the aunt who shortened the crown princess's name to Ani.

Work Out

On Friday, Spencer and I went running. We didn't run as long as we normally do, only 18 minutes. I ran 2.20 miles and I burned 182 calories.

Tax Frustration

So I went to get the application for my residency on Monday. The girl at the counter gave me the paperwork I needed and proceeded to tell me everything that I needed to know, than she said that I could not be claimed on my parents taxes. Now, Dad and I had decided for them to claim me because we thought the FAFSA needed it, but that conflicts with getting my residency. I have already filed my taxes and gotten my return, I got $179 back. Well I talked to my financial aid advisor and she said that for me to get my residency, Mom and Dad can't claim me for 2007, if they do, I have to wait until Spring 2009 to get my residency, which would suck. So today, I went to get my taxes amended. I just went to the VITA on campus, they did my taxes. I get there and tell them I needed my taxes amended and the girl who was going to help me immediately calls over someone else and asks what to do. He tells me at first that they didn't do amendments. He then decides to just help me himself so he takes me over to his computer. He proceeds to tell me that he wasn't sure how long it would take or if it would work, but he wanted to help so I wouldn't have to go to an accountant and pay them to help me. After 30 minutes, he finally finishes and prints it off and tells me that I have to mail it in. I was like, "ok, no problem". The catch was that the IRS might deny my amendment because I can be claimed on my parents taxes. I have to wait until my amendment gets there, and then an indefinite time before they get back to me to tell me if my claim was passed or denied. This sucks! I need to be independent or else I can't get my residency, I think I'm going to go to my advisor tomorrow or Friday and explain to her what is going on and to see if that will affect my getting residency, hopefully everything goes good! Pray for me! Love you all!

Sojourn by: R.A. Salvatore (3rd in Dark Elf Trilogy)

I really enjoyed this book! It was really good and I liked the humor that R.A. Salvatore put into it, I definitely laughed a couple of times in this book.

Far above the merciless Underdark, Drizzt Do'Urden fights to survive the elements of Toril's harsh surface. The young drow begins a sojourn through a world entirely unlike his own--even as he evades the dark elves of his past. He begins to understand his new home and its inhabitants, but acceptance among the surface-dwellers doesn't come easily.

Page Excerpt:

"Run, Eleni!" Connor Thistledown cried, waving his sword and bearing down on the drow. "It is a dark elf!"

Of all that Connor had cried, Drizzt only understood the word "drow." The young man's attitude and intent could not be mistaken, though, for Connor charged straight between Drizzt and Eleni, his sword tip pointed Drizzt's way. Eleni managed to get to her feet behind her brother, but she did not flee. She, too, had heard of the evil dark elves and she would not leave Connor to face one alone.

"Turn away, dark elf," Connor growled. "I am an expert swordsman and much stronger than you."

Drizzt held his hands out, not understanding a word.

"Turn away!" Connor yelled.

On impulse, Drizzt replied in the silent code of his people, an itnricate language of hand and facial gestures.

"He's casting a spell!" Eleni cried, and she dove into the blueberries. Connor charged, his sword leading the way.

Before Connor even knew of the counter, Drizzt grabbed him by the forearm, used his other hand to twist the boy's wrist and take away the sword, spun the crude weapon three times over Connor's head, flipped it in his slender hand, then handed it, hilt first, back to the boy.

Drizzt held his arms out wide and smiled. In drow custom, such a show of superiority without injury signaled a desire for friendship. To the oldest son of farmer Thistledown, the drow's display brought only terror.

Connor stood, mouth agape, for a long moment. His sword fell from his hand; his pants, soiled, clung uncomfortably to his thighs, but he didn't notice.

A scream erupted from somewhere within Connor and he grabbed Eleni, who joined in his scream, and they fled back to the grove to collect the others, then farther running until they crossed the threshold fo their own home.

Drizzt was left, his smile fast fading and his arms out wide, standing all alone in the blueberry patch.

Work Out

Today Spencer and I worked out after Institute. I ran 3.41 miles and I burned 3.29 calories in 35 minutes. I'm doing great! I have definitely been doing better each time! Spencer is doing a lot better than me, running twice the distance and burning twice the calories that I am, but that's ok, I don't mind.

Exile by: R.A. Salvatore (2nd in Dark Elf Trilogy)

I really like these books, they are really good. I definitely recommend them!

Hostile in ways that a surface-dweller could never know, the tunnel-mazes of the Underdark challenge all who tread there. Among these souls are Drizzt Do'Urden and his magical cat, Guenhwyvar. Exiled from his drow homeland, Drizzt must fight for a new home in the boundless labyrinth. Meanwhile, he must watch for signs of pursuit--for the dark elves are not a forgiving race.

Sherri Dew Fireside

I realized as I was looking at my blog today that I forgot to blog about my choir concert with Sherri Dew. On Friday night, we had the fireside. It was really good, well at least the parts that I was awake for were really good. I will admit that I have a problem with church meetings and dimmed lights, I don't know what it is but it always puts me to sleep. The opening song with the congregation was "We Thank Thee Oh God For A Prophet" and I must say that the spirit was so strong after we were done singing. Before Sister Dew gave her talk, the choir sang "My Kindness Will Not Depart From Thee". That is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and sang.

For a little while Have I forsaken thee; But with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee For a moment. But with everlasting kindness will I gather thee, And with mercy will I take thee ‘neath my wings, For the mountains shall depart, And the hills shall be removed, And the valleys shall be lost beneath the sea, But know, my child, My kindness shall not depart from thee!

Though thine afflictions seem At times too great to bear, I know thine every thought and every care. And though the very jaws Of hell gape after thee I am with thee. And with everlasting mercy will I succor thee, And with healing will I take thee ‘neath my wings. Though the mountains shall depart, And the hills shall be removed, And the valleys shall be lost beneath the sea, Know, my child, My kindness shall not depart from thee!

How long can rolling waters Remain impure? What pow’r shall stay the hand of God? The Son of Man hath descended below all things. Art thou greater than He?

So hold on thy way, For I shall be with thee. And mine angels shall encircle thee. Doubt not what thou knowest, Fear not man, for he Cannot hurt thee. And with everlasting kindness will I succor thee, And with mercy will I take thee ‘neath my wings. For the mountains shall depart, And the hills shall be removed, And the valleys shall be lost beneath the sea, But know, my child, My kindness shall not depart from thee!

These are the lyrics to the song, beautiful aren't they. Sister Dew's talk was on Joseph Smith and the prophets, and for what I was awake through, it was really good. One thing that she said that really stuck in my mind was something that she said at the beginning of her talk. She told a story about her friend looking for a house and her asking Sister Dew to come help her. They found a very nice house that seemed like the best for the standards that she had chosen, so she asked Sister Dew to pray and ask the Lord if it was the right house. Sister Dew went on to pray and she said in her prayer, "...Let them get this house if it suits Thee, or help them find something better..." Now this is an indirect quote and I don't know if I even quoted it right, but what stuck with me was asking the Lord to find something better. Not putting a limitation on what God can do for us. It really made me think and realize that that is what I need to do when I ask the Lord if what I am praying for is good, or if He can get me something better if it suits His needs.

Another thing that Sister Dew said at the end of her talk was she was talking about Abraham 3: 16-17, the scripture about the Noble and Great Ones and how before, she used to always attributed that to the prophets and apostles and church leaders. Now she attributes that scripture to everybody, saying that everybody is a Noble and Great One. It was a really good talk and I was glad that I was there to listen to most of it. For a closing song, the choir sang "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing", arranged by Mack Wilberg.

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;Streams of mercy, never ceasing,Call for songs of loudest praise.Teach me some melodious sonnet,Sung by flaming tongues above.Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,Mount of Thy redeeming love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer;Hither by Thy help I’ve come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,Safely to arrive at home.Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it;Seal it for Thy courts above.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,Wandering from the fold of God;He, to rescue me from danger,Interposed His precious blood.Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it;Seal it for Thy courts above.

O to grace how great a debtorDaily I'm constrained to be!Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,Bind my wandering heart to Thee:Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,Prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it;Seal it for Thy courts above.

Work Out

I worked out again today, I'm starting a good habit. =) Today I only ran on the Elliptical machine. I started playing with the buttons, trying to get a good workout, and I tried doing a Fat Burn workout, but they wanted me to go really slow, and I tried for about 5 minutes and then I decided to do something else. I then did a Cardio workout and I liked that one. I did 3.21 miles in total today, including my 5 minute cool down. I burned 308 calories.

Work Out

So last night I went and worked out. I went with Spencer. We went running around 9 pm. The rugby team closed the main floor of the Fieldhouse down so they could use it for their own personal use. Before they closed the floor down I got in 5 laps jogging and 3 laps walking. So that is a mile. After they closed the main floor, Spencer and I went upstairs to where the treadmills and elliptical machines and weights. I went on an elliptical machine and jogged/ran 3.25 miles. I burned approximately 350 calories in all last night. I thought I did really good. So I did 4.25 miles in total last night. Afterwards, Spencer and I went swimming afterwards and soaked in the hot tub. It felt really really nice.

My Car

So I finally unburied (is that a word? I dunno know.) my car today. I started about 5-10 minutes after Spencer brought me home, which was around 3 I think, and I didn't finish until about 5. I was out there forever! My arms were so tired when I was done too. I forgot how heavy snow could be. There was a lot of snow to move as you can see. I'm very glad that I finally did it though!

Valentine's Day!

So for Valentine's Day, Spencer and I hung out as usual. I got him Phase 10, a frog that makes kissing noises (which was so totally cute!), and a pack of gum. He got me a card that was really cute, 3 roses, a stuffed puppy, and he took me out to ice cream! It was really sweet! We watched the first half of Varsity Blue before he had to take me home because he left today to go to Montana; which is sad for me, but oh well.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Crazy Weather

So today we had some CRAZY weather. On Monday and Tuesday, the weather was in the 40's and it was sooo nice! It was soo warm and I was so excited! Than today, it was pretty warm this morning, and clear too. At about 11:30, it started to snow, and I mean REALLY snow. It was dumping on us. When Spencer took me back up to campus for Institute at 1:20, there were already roads that were being blocked off. When I left Insitute at 3, it looked like there was a blizzard outside. It was absolutely crazy! It was snowing so hard! So I make a mad dash for the TSC and the comfort of being inside and I start wandering around the Bookstore, just to see what there was. I saw some stuff that I would like to buy as Christmas presents, I'm thinking early for once. While I am wandering around, Spencer calls to see how I am doing and to tell me that there is a blizzard outside, not that I didn't know that already =). I told him that I was not looking forward to walking to my math class, because my math class is about a 7 min walk that is mostly outside, I can cut through some buildings, but I would still be outside most of the time. Spencer asked if I had a test in math today, I told him "no" and he suggested I skip class because of the bad weather. I had already contemplated skipping class, so he just helped me decide quicker. He picked me up and we went swimming for about 2 hours, it was so nice. The pool was warm and the hot tub was very hot, it was great! When I got home, which was about an hour ago, I was talking to Keely and she told me that all the classes after 3:30 approx. were cancelled, so I didn't have a math class to go to. It was great! The weather here is pretty crazy, but I hope it stops soon so I can get my car safety inspected and registered.

Old Magic by: Marianne Curley

JARROD THORNTON IS MESMERIZING, BUT KATE WARREN DOESN'T KNOW WHY.

The moment the new guy walks into the room, Kate senses something strange and intense about him. Something supernatural. Her instincts are proven correct a few minutes later when, bullied by his classmates, Jarrod unknowingly conjures up a freak thunderstorm inside their classroom.

Jarrod doesn't believe in the paranormal.
